SUMMARY:The white marble design: White Carrara
DESCRIPTION:White Carrara returns for its ninth edition. From June 13 to September 28\, 2025\, the city celebrates white marble design through a rich program of exhibitions\, installations\, talks\, events\, and tours. Art director Domenico Raimondi curates a vision rooted in contemporary creativity and the legacy of white Carrara. \nThe event transforms the historic center of Carrara into an open-air exhibition. Designers\, architects\, artists\, artisans\, and companies gather here. They experiment\, collaborate\, and bring new perspectives to marble. The city becomes a living laboratory for innovation and tradition. \nDiscover Designmonat Graz \nRidon by RossLovegrove \nWhite Carrara: Design here and now\nThe 2025 theme\, Design Here and Now\, pushes design into the present. It invites designers to work directly with white Carrara marble\, creating original works for this event. Last year\, the focus was on past design objects. This year\, artists create new pieces\, tailored specifically for the exhibition. They reinterpret a centuries-old material with modern tools. Robotics now plays a key role in shaping marble. Innovation blends with history to open new artistic directions. \nSome images for White Carrara 2025 \n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n\nAn international line-up of designers\nWorld-famous designer Karim Rashid opens the festival on June 13. Rashid joins Ross Lovegrove\, a London-based pioneer of industrial design\, Jean-Michel Wilmotte adds his refined touch. Young voices also take the stage. Slovak designer Kickie Ciudikova\, based in New York\, mixes traditional craft with advanced technologies. Parisian architect and sculptor Victor Gingembre adds bold experimentation. \nItaly contributes strong creative forces. Elena Salmistraro from Milan brings her visionary style. Giulio Iacchetti\, a double Compasso d’Oro winner\, presents new marble concepts. Massimo Giacon\, illustrator and designer for Alessi\, adds his pop-infused energy. Emiliana Martinelli of Martinelli Luce showcases lighting innovation. Gumdesign offers fresh design and communication strategies. Paolo Ulian\, known for poetic marble design\, returns with new projects. Gianfranco Gualtierotti\, vice president of MudeTo\, also takes part. Donia Maaoui and Michel Boucquillon\, a design duo\, contribute elegant\, functional pieces. Sculptors Cynthia Sah and Nicolas Bertoux\, based in Tuscany\, present site-specific work. Architect Valeria Eva Rossi reconnects with her Carrara roots. Florence-area designers Marta Sansoni\, Andrea Ponsi\, Claudio Nardi\, and Marco Pisati enrich the showcase. Guido Bondielli\, Benvenuto Saba\, and Nicola Maggi bridge sculpture and design. \nDiscover Gdynia Design Days \nMillepiedi by Emiliana Martinelli \nLocal voices complete the line-up. Carrara’s own Natascia Bascherini\, Fiammetta V\, Antonio Leone\, Michele Monfroni\, and Nadia Sabbioni take part. Studios like Interni Now\, Rima Design\, and GiPi Soft Arredamenti collaborate actively. \n \nActive collaborations between designers and local artisans\nEach project begins with a local partnership: designers work with Carrara’s extractive companies and artisan labs. These collaborations highlight the creative power of the region; the teams use only authentic white Carrara marble. Most pieces are produced directly in the city. \nThis edition launches the first International White Carrara Award. The competition welcomes designers under 35\, but also includes established professionals. Participants must design innovative\, sustainable urban furniture in marble. A jury will select the top three proposals. The city will produce and install the winning pieces by May 2026. \nWhite Carrara 2025 also expands into visual art: the mudaC | Museo delle Arti Carrara hosts Vincenzo Marsiglia. Stars and Dust. The artist explores mixed reality\, innovation\, and AI. In the Gianluca Sgherri. Uninverso project room\, the artist builds a dynamic labyrinth; his work challenges spatial perception. \nThe City of Carrara promotes and produces the event\, partnering with Internazionale Marmi e Macchine CarraraFiere SpA and the Chamber of Commerce of North-West Tuscany. The Tuscany Region offers sponsorship. Fondazione Marmo provides funding. Nausicaa spa and ERP Massa Carrara spa offer technical support. \nWhite Carrara involves the whole city: companies\, workshops\, institutions\, and cultural groups take part; streets and squares become active design spaces. The event turns white marble design into a shared civic celebration\, connecting identity\, creativity\, and community. \nWhite Carrara\, Carrara\, June 13-September 28\, 2025\nFor professionals and general public\nSize: over 30 designs\, talks and exhibitions\nVarious locations\, open-air festival\nVisit Whitecarrara.it for info \nSome images from White Carrara 2024
