SUMMARY:Design Week Mexico 2026: the program of Mexico City's design week
DESCRIPTION:Design Week Mexico 2026  takes  place in Mexico City from 5 to 11 October\, although most of its exhibitions stay open well into November\, and one runs until January 2027. Founded in 2009 by Emilio Cabrero\, Andrea Cesarman\, Marco Coello and Jaime Hernández\, it’s now in its 18th year. Over the years\, DWM has built a wide program of exhibitions\, talks\, installations and documentaries that brings professionals\, students and the general public together. \nDesign House\, Design Week Mexico 2025 \nSince 2013\, each edition also welcomed a guest country\, which brings its own design scene into the program. Brazil opened the series in 2013\, followed by the United Kingdom in 2014 and Italy in 2015. DWM26 brings together design\, architecture\, craft and art-object\, with Chile as guest country and a shared curatorial line\, “Perspectives from the Global South“. Almost all venues sit within the Miguel Hidalgo borough\, between Polanco\, Chapultepec and Lomas\, so the week can be covered on foot and by short rides.\n \nChile\, guest country of Design Week Mexico 2026\nChile’s presence builds on an open call for Chilean designers living in Chile or elsewhere in Latin America. Five of them were picked to work side by side with Mexican artisans: Camilo Huinca (Onlyjoke)\, ceramist Catalina Zarhi\, Paula Corrales\, Raúl Hernández Tralma of Trufquen\, known for combining Pomaire clay with mouth-blown glass\, and Rodrigo Bravo Ferretti of Bravo Estudio in Santiago. The project is backed by Chile’s Ministry of Cultures\, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chilean Embassy in Mexico. \nDiscover more on São Paulo Design Week 2026 \nVisión y Tradición at the Museo Nacional de Antropología\nThe results of these residencies go on show in the half-moon gallery of the Museo Nacional de Antropología\, from 8 October to 1 November\, with free entry. Each Chilean designer teamed up with a workshop in a different state: Rodrigo Bravo with a stone workshop in Yucatán that carves local limestones\, Raúl Hernández Tralma with a potter from Amatenango del Valle in Chiapas\, Camilo Huinca with a family studio in Uruapan working with maque inlay lacquer\, Paula Corrales with a horsehair workshop in Jalisco\, and Catalina Zarhi with a young Mata Ortiz potter from Chihuahua. \nA Mexican section pairs local designers with artisans too\, among them Aura Carpio with a family of coppersmiths from Santa Clara del Cobre and Gustavo Pacheco\, already seen at SaloneSatellite in Milan\, with a collective of Rarámuri textile makers. \nDesign Week Mexico 2026 runs 5-11 October in Mexico City with Chile as guest country. Full guide to the DWM26 program\, venues\, dates and tickets. \nVision & Tradition\, Design Week Mexico 2025 \nInmersiones Creativas México-Francia at Casa Ortega\nCasa Ortega hosts a look back at three years of residencies between French designers and Mexican craftspeople\, carried out with the French Embassy\, IFAL\, Institut Français and Mobilier National in the year France and Mexico mark two centuries of diplomatic relations. More than thirty French creatives have travelled across the country since 2023. The 2026 pairings include Matali Crasset with the brand and Jacob\, working on marble and blown glass\, Wendy Andreu with a Guadalajara stone company\, Théophile Blandet with Toro Manifesto on a kinetic lamp inspired by the Voladores de Papantla ritual\, and Fanny Serouart with Taller Maya on henequen fibre and leather. The show opens on 5 October and runs until 25 October\, free until 11 October.\n \nPabellon Audi\, Design Week Mexico 2025 \nDesign House 2026\nDesign House\, the flagship project of Design Week Mexico\, reaches its 17th edition inside a 1970s house by architect Fernando Jackson\, on Paseo de las Palmas in Lomas de Chapultepec. Leading Mexican architecture and interior studios fit out each room\, among them Ezequiel Farca\, C Cúbica Arquitectos\, Uribe Krayer and Toro Manifesto. Italian brands also show up through two pairings\, Arditti with Molteni&C and Colectivo ERRA with La Marzocco. Furniture\, lighting and finishes come from the Dealers de Diseño\, which share the same venue and dates. Open daily from 9 October to 1 November\, tickets on Eventbrite.\n \nDesign House\, Design Week Mexico 2025 \nInédito at Espacio CDMX\nInédito turns twelve and remains the main platform for utilitarian design and art-object in Mexico. At Espacio CDMX\, in Chapultepec forest\, it gathers more than seventy professional studios\, design schools and emerging makers\, all showing pieces never seen before. Biomaterials\, reuse of resources\, new manufacturing methods and fair dealings with traditional crafts are the recurring topics. Free entry from 10 October to 10 January.\n \nInedito\, Design Week Mexico 2025 \nPRINT\, graphic design and illustration\nThe third edition of PRINT takes over the White Box of G.56 Hub Creativo in San Miguel Chapultepec. It picks up the same Global South theme through graphic design\, illustration\, typography and printed media selected by an international jury\, which hands out a 20\,000-peso PRINT Prize. Free\, from 8 to 31 October.\n \nPRINT\, Design Week Mexico 2025 \nTours de Diseño\, the parallel agenda\nFrom 1 October to 1 November\, the Tours de Diseño link up showrooms\, workshops and design shops across Mexico City\, covering both contemporary and craft-based Mexican design. The circuit gives dozens of local makers a chance to open their doors during the busiest month of the year for design in the city. The full calendar of events and openings is published on the Design Week Mexico website\, alongside the DWM26 map. \nWhy visit\nDesign Week Mexico offers a rare chance to see contemporary design and traditional craft side by side\, in residencies that pair designers with artisans from all over the country. The venues are part of the experience too\, from the Museo Nacional de Antropología to a 1970s house in Lomas de Chapultepec\, and most exhibitions are free. With Chile as guest country and a strong focus on Latin America\, DWM26 is a good way to catch up with the design scenes of the Global South. Since many shows stay open well into November\, there is plenty of time to take everything in. \nDesign Week Mexico 2026: key dates\n\n\n\n\nEvent \n\n\nVenue \n\n\nDates \n\n\nEntry fee \n\n\n\n\nInmersiones Creativas \n\n\nCasa Ortega \n\n\n6-25 October (opening 5 October) \n\n\nFree until 11 October\, then 50 MXN \n\n\n\n\nVisión y Tradición \n\n\nMuseo Nacional de Antropología \n\n\n8 October-1 November (opening 7 Oct) \n\n\nFree \n\n\n\n\nPRINT \n\n\nG.56 Hub Creativo \n\n\n8-31 October (opening 7 October) \n\n\nFree \n\n\n\n\nDesign House +\nDealers de Diseño \n\n\nPaseo de las Palmas 1305 \n\n\n9 October-1 November \n\n\n250-300 MXN \n\n\n\n\nInédito \n\n\nEspacio CDMX \n\n\n10 October 2026-10 January 2027 (opening 9 October) \n\n\nFree \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nTours de Diseño \n\n\nAcross the city \n\n\n1 October-1 November \n\n\nFree \n\n\n\n\nSize: more than 200 events\, over 100 activities; 200\,000+ visitors\nMany events are free\, other require an entry fee\nOpening hours: October 5 – 11\, 2026\, 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM\nDiseño Contenido (Lincoln Park): October 10 and 11\, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM\nMain Exhibitions (Design House\, Vision & Tradition\, Inédito\, etc.):\nRun on individual schedules through October and November 2026\nVisit Designmexico.com website for info  \n \n\n  \n\n  \n

SUMMARY:DesignBlok 2026: Prague Design Festival
DESCRIPTION:DesignBlok 2026\, the 28th edition of the Prague design festival\, runs from 7 to 11 October 2026 across some of the city’s most striking venues. This year’s theme is Light\, read as a symbol of knowledge\, truth\, hope and life. More than 300 designers\, studios\, brands and guests from the Czech Republic and abroad take part\, while the programme moves between the National Gallery Prague’s Trade Fair Palace\, Prague Castle\, the Museum of Decorative Arts and the Industrial Palace\, which reopens to the public with the festival after four years of work. \nDesignBlok 2026\, Prague\, 7-11\, October\, 2026\nProfessionals’ Day: 6 October\, with the first day of DesignBlok Talks (the conference continues on 7 October)\nSize: six main venues: Trade Fair Palace of the National Gallery Prague; Riding Hall and Chapel of the Holy Cross at Prague Castle; Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague; UMPRUM Technology Centre in Mikulandská; Central Hall of the Industrial Palace at Výstaviště Praha\nAround 50\,000 visitors \nPaid admission\, one ticket for all venues\nMore than 50 showrooms\, galleries\, shops and other venues\nMore info on the website designblok.cz \nDesignblok 2025\, High Craft. Photo Martin Faltejsek\, courtesy DesignBlok \nLight shows up in many forms: as a practical tool\, a technology\, a building block of architecture and design\, and an idea. Through exhibitions\, installations\, talks and presentations\, DesignBlok looks at how light shapes the way people see\, feel and live\, and at what design can do for society. \nDesignblok 2025\, Vystaviste. Photo Martin Faltejsek\, courtesy DesignBlok \nMarcel Wanders\, Guest of Honour at DesignBlok 2026\nDutch designer Marcel Wanders is this year’s main guest. On Thursday 8 October he will pick up the DesignBlok Award for Outstanding Contribution to Global Design in the historic Central Hall of the Industrial Palace at Výstaviště Praha. \nSince the 1990s\, Wanders has blurred the lines between craft and industry\, decoration and structure\, tradition and technology\, and brought emotion and imagination back to the centre of design. His Knotted Chair of 1996 became the symbol of this approach. The Skygarden light for Flos\, his work for Moooi\, the brand he co-founded 25 years ago\, and the layered interiors of the Mondrian Doha hotel show how widely his practice reaches across products\, lighting and interiors. \nLee Broom’s BEACON Lights Up Jan Palach Square\nBritish designer Lee Broom brings BEACON to Prague\, a monumental light installation made with Czech lighting brand Brokis. After its launch in London and a stop at Milan Design Week\, the piece reaches Czech audiences for the first time\, lighting up Jan Palach Square in front of the Rudolfinum. \nDesignBlok Talks: Two Days on the Future of Design\, Architecture and Living\nThe second edition of DesignBlok Talks grows to two days\, on 6 and 7 October\, and moves into the Industrial Palace. More than 40 architects\, designers and experts will take the stage across three strands: Future of Design\, Future of Architecture and Future of Living. The programme is put together with the British platform Dezeen. \nThe international line-up includes Claudio Silvestrin\, Sebastian Herkner\, Laurids Gallée\, Daniel Rybakken\, Christophe Delcourt\, Alberto Perazza\, Hong Kong designer Stanley Wong and Pascale Mussard Siegrist. The Czech scene is represented by studio Dechem\, Jakub Berdych Karpelis\, Maxim Velčovský\, Kateřina Handlová\, Jan Plecháč\, Lucie Koldová\, Václav Mlynář and Eva Eisler. \nDesignblok 2023\, UPM\, Designblok Talent Cards. Photo Adela Havelkova\, courtesy DesignBlok \nThe Trade Fair Palace\, Heart of the Festival\nAfter three years\, DesignBlok goes back to the Trade Fair Palace of the National Gallery Prague\, which once again becomes the core of the festival. Visitors will find more than 250 exhibitions by designers\, brands\, schools and young talents\, along with cafés\, rest areas and large curated projects. \nIn the Small Hall\, supported by KKCG Real Estate Group\, Maxim Velčovský sets up Veranda\, an interactive installation about light\, movement and getting together. On the fifth floor\, DesignBlok Selects picks out 28 objects and new launches from Czech and international design\, among them a limited-edition gold Panton Chair by Vitra and the Axis collection by Laurids Gallée for Moser. \nThe theme also comes through in the mix of exhibitors\, with leading Czech glass and lighting companies side by side with international lighting\, furniture and interior brands. Česká spořitelna and Visa team up with designer Daniel Pošta on an interactive light installation\, Škoda Auto shows two fully electric models\, the Epiq and the Peaq\, and ČEZ uses virtual reality to take visitors inside Czech power plants. The Karel Komárek Family Foundation presents a play installation for preschool children\, designed by students of Tomas Bata University in Zlín. \nDesignBlok 2022\, photo Filip Slapal\, from DesignBlok website \nThe Industrial Palace Reopens with DesignBlok\nDesignBlok is the first major event to open the historic Central Hall of the Industrial Palace after its four-year restoration. The hall will host DesignBlok Talks\, a live design edition of the popular Czech quiz show AZ-kvíz\, the official reopening together with the DesignBlok Awards 2026\, and Saturday’s fashion shows with the Diploma Selection finalists. Guided tours of the palace are organised with Výstaviště Praha\, and a Škoda Auto children’s zone sets up outside as part of DesignBlok for Kids. \nPrague Castle: Václav Havel’s Office and Eva Eisler’s Circle of Silence\nFor the fourth time\, Prague Castle is one of the main venues. The Riding Hall hosts Design for Václav Havel\, marking 90 years since the birth of the first Czech president after the Velvet Revolution. At its centre is Havel’s original presidential office\, back at the Castle after 24 years on loan from Mr and Mrs Kolek. The show is organised by DesignBlok and Prague Castle and curated by Andrea Běhounková and Jana Zielinski. \nThe Riding Hall also hosts the fourth edition of High Craft\, under the patronage of Vogue CS. More than twenty Czech designers and brands rework traditional crafts through new technologies and a careful approach to the environment. Exhibitors include ARTGLASS\, now under the artistic direction of Jakub Berdych Karpelis\, Christmas ornaments by Rautis\, glass by DECHEM and Hana Hillerová\, and sculptures in glass\, bronze and ceramics by Janja Prokić. \nFor the first time\, the deconsecrated Chapel of the Holy Cross in the Castle’s Second Courtyard opens to festival visitors. Here Eva Eisler presents Circle of Silence/Kruh ticha\, an installation that shifts attention away from human making and towards nature\, time and presence. Light is not the subject but the medium that lets visitors take in the space and its silence\, and slow down. \nDesignBlok 2022\, photo Filip Slapal\, from DesignBlok website \nRetro Lamps at the Museum of Decorative Arts\nThe Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague hosts part of Openstudio and the exhibition Retro Lamps: Forgotten Stories of Czechoslovak Design. The show looks at mass-produced table\, floor and pendant lamps made in Czechoslovakia between the 1950s and the 1980s\, and brings back the names of designers often hidden behind the factories that produced their work. It is developed with the Paris gallery Initio Arts & Design and curated by Eva Slunečková. In the museum garden\, designer Bodo Sperlein stages an intervention of his own. \nOpenstudio and Superstudio\nOpenstudio\, split between the Trade Fair Palace and the museum\, focuses on independent projects and smaller brands: PÁR and Blueberries\, a joint collection by Kahotski Eyewear and Petra Ptáčková\, the jewellery project Love is Bling\, embroidery by BRO.\, SKOBA with Jiří Krejčiřík\, and Tititi\, which also celebrates the 100th birthday of the Czech puppet Hurvínek. FLÖTTOTO\, Kultivar and the City of Znojmo join DesignBlok for the first time. \nSuperstudio\, at the Trade Fair Palace\, gathers the large brand installations. Highlights include Lasvit with Rizzoli New York\, the relaunched glassworks Jílek 1905\, a working What a Hut sauna outside the building\, door handles and hooks by Jiří Pelcl for M&T\, furniture by Master & Master with its first light\, a table lamp by Tomáš Král\, a new armchair by Lucie Koldová for LD Seating\, handwoven Slovak rugs by Felmera\, and STOPKA with Italian brand Gallotti&Radice. \nDesignBlok 2023\, Superstudio. Photo Ondrej Holub\, courtesy DesignBlok \nDesignBlok Across Prague\nMore than 50 locations across the city join the festival map\, from showrooms and pop-up stores to galleries\, museums and art schools. Among them are STOPKA\, DEDON Praha\, Minotti Praha and the new Rückl Flagship Store. In Holešovice\, the Konsepti showroom presents new designs by Christophe Delcourt for Molteni&C alongside Magis\, while the nearby Bulb showroom shows icons by Marcel Wanders and Moooi. The international jury is chaired by Max Fraser\, Editor-in-Chief of Dezeen. The Impact Award\, for a project with a strong environmental or social contribution\, comes with CZK 100\,000 from Allwyn. \nDiploma Selection\, run with EUNIC Cluster Prague\, reaches its 12th edition. Fifteen product design finalists show their work at the Trade Fair Palace\, while fashion finalists walk the runway at the Industrial Palace on Saturday 10 October\, when the winners are announced. School Today brings together 19 schools and studios from Central Europe\, with Budapest’s Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design taking part for the first time\, and expands to the UMPRUM Technology Centre in Mikulandská. The DesignBlok Talent Cards\, backed by Česká spořitelna and Visa\, help young designers take their first professional steps. \nThe festival’s main non-profit partner is the AutTalk Foundation\, which supports families of children on the autism spectrum. MONUMENT Office designs an installation for the foundation\, and DesignBlok donates CZK 100\,000 from ticket sales. Porigami\, with a special edition\, and Sue Ryder also take part. \nDesignBlok 2023\, Openstudio\, Design x Science. Photo Petra Hurai\, courtesy DesignBlok \nA Programme for the Whole Family\nThe DesignBlok Stage in the Grand Hall of the Trade Fair Palace hosts talks and meetings with designers throughout the festival\, while the ATLAS space offers workshops and films. SUMMARY:Barcelona Design Week 2026: PRO-TEST and the Value of the Prototype
DESCRIPTION:Before a project turns into an object\, a space or a service\, it goes through a stage of trials\, fixes and open questions. This stage is usually hidden behind the final result. Barcelona Design Week 2026 brings it out into the open\, looking at design as a process that experiments\, checks and turns an idea into something that can really find a place in people’s lives. \nFrom 14 to 25 October 2026\, Barcelona hosts the 21st edition of Barcelona Design Week under the theme PRO-TEST: Prototyping and Testing\, curated by Alessandro Manetti. The edition also links up with Barcelona 2026 World Capital of Architecture\, connecting design\, space and new ways of picturing the future. \nDiscover Madrid Design Week 2026\n \nKave\, main sponsor of Barcelona Design Week 2026 \nFrom Project to Prototype\nPRO-TEST shifts the focus from the result to the path that leads to it. The theme builds on two key stages of the design process: prototyping and testing. These are the moments when an idea moves beyond the abstract and starts to deal with real materials\, uses\, needs and people. \nA prototype is not yet a final answer. It helps put an idea to the test\, find out what works\, spot what needs rethinking and open up new possibilities. Seen this way\, the prototype is not just a step towards an end product but a tool to explore and learn. Designing means making assumptions\, checking them against reality and accepting that every proposal can change. \n \nPRO-TEST: Experimenting to Build Alternatives\nThe name also plays on a second reading. “Pro” points to what moves forward\, proposes\, promotes and provokes; “test” stands for trial\, experiment and comparison. Together they suggest protest as a form of proposal\, a way of facing uncertainty not only through criticism but by building visible\, tangible alternatives that stay open to change. \nDesign becomes a way to respond to today’s challenges with solutions that people can see\, discuss and improve\, without claiming to have the final word. As the organisers put it\, BDW 2026 looks at design as a practice able to turn questions into processes\, intuitions into prototypes and alternatives into evidence.\n \nService Design Disrupted\, main sponsor at Barcelona Design Week 2026 \nA Design Week Spread Across the City\nOver eleven days\, Barcelona Design Week 2026 lays out a programme of activities\, exhibitions\, installations\, talks and experiences in different venues across Barcelona. It brings together professionals\, companies\, schools\, institutions and the wider public. \nThe programme also includes OFF BDW\, associated venues and events built together with the local creative community\, linking studios\, schools\, companies\, designers and institutions. The city becomes a kind of lab where visitors can see not only finished products but also ideas still taking shape and design processes open to debate. \nBarcelona as a Lab for New Futures\nThis approach carries extra weight in 2026\, thanks to the dialogue with the World Capital of Architecture. Design and architecture share many of the same questions: how to make spaces more liveable\, how to keep up with social and environmental change\, and how to turn complex needs into real solutions. \nBarcelona Design Week invites visitors to look at these challenges starting from the process. Before building the future\, it has to be imagined\, drawn\, tested and\, when needed\, changed. This space between idea and reality is where Barcelona chooses to place design in 2026.\n \nWMF\, main sponsor at Barcelona Design Week 2026 \nWho Is Behind Barcelona Design Week\nSet up in 2006\, Barcelona Design Week is led and organised by the Barcelona Creativity & Design Foundation\, promoted by Barcelona City Council and Disseny Hub Barcelona (DHub)\, in collaboration with FAD Fostering Arts and Design. It is one of the city’s main creative events and a key date on the international design calendar. \nIts goal is to bring design closer to citizens and to every part of the economy\, connect professionals\, companies\, institutions and the creative community\, and show Barcelona’s creative energy to the world. BDW is also a member of World Design Weeks\, the Barcelona-based network that brings together more than 40 design and creativity events worldwide. \nThe visual identity of the 2026 edition is by the studio Abuela\, which gives shape to the journey from idea to prototype\, from prototype to test\, and from test to real change. \nWhy visit\nBarcelona Design Week 2026 offers a rare look behind the finished product\, showing how ideas are tested\, questioned and improved before they reach people’s lives. Across eleven days and many venues\, it brings together professionals\, companies\, schools and the public\, making it a good chance to meet the local creative community and pick up new ideas. With the added link to the World Capital of Architecture\, this edition is also a timely stop for anyone interested in where design and architecture meet.\n \n \nBarcelona Design Week 2026\, 14-25\, October\, 2026\nSize: over 67\,000 visitors\, more than 130 activities\nLocations: different venues\nAdmission: free\nOpening hours: each event sets its own opening hours\nFor info: Barcelonadesignweek.com website
