SUMMARY:Design Miami.Paris 2024
DESCRIPTION:From October 16th to 20th Design Miami.Paris 2024 returns at L’hôtel de Maisons for the second edition\, showcasing over 20 collectible design galleries.  \nDesign Miami.Paris is the spin-off fair of Design Miami\, the collectible design fair started in Miami twenty years ago. Design Miami connects the world through extraordinary collectible design\, with live fairs that bring together galleries\, designers\, brands\, experts\, collectors\, and enthusiasts. Each edition of Design Miami features museum-quality 20th and 21st-century furniture\, lighting\, and objets d’art from the world’s top galleries. Moreover\, it showcases immersive design collaborations with celebrated brands. Design Miami’s flagship fair takes place alongside Art Basel in Miami\, Florida\, each December. Several key thematic threads emerge within the diverse presentations from over 20 international galleries set to go on show. \nMaterial Marvels\nThis year’s gallery program presents pioneering examples of collectible design by world-leading craftsmanship with a deep appreciation for materiality. Galerie Desprez-Bréhéret (Paris) and debut Paris exhibitor Galerie Yves Gastou (Paris) present a collection of pieces by Jean Touret.  \nTable\, tabouret and totem by Jean Touret & Artisans de Marolles at Galerie Desprez Beheret. Each piece is on display in Paris for the first time. Highlights include Raphael Navot’s Encompass sofa\, which sits at the presentation’s heart. The gallery also showcases Dr. Samuel Ross’ Amnesia or platelet apparition? and ANAESTHESIA I – both reflecting upon the evocative power of materials. Other highlights include a rare and early ceiling lamp by Ettore Sottsass. \nAnaesthesia I by Dr. Samuel Ross at Friedman Benda. Photo Timothy Doyon \nThe Legacy of Modernism\nThis year’s gallery program also pays homage to the profound legacy of Modernism. Galerie Patrick Seguin (Paris) presents the legacy of French Modernism through a curated collection of 20th-century collectible masterpieces by designers including Jean Prouvé\, Le Corbusier\, and Jean Royère. The striking dialogue with the classical interiors of L’hôtel de Maisons speaks to French design’s rich history and evolution.  \nMeanwhile\, Galerie Downtown-Laffanour (Paris) places 20th-century French masterpieces in conversation with 21st-century icons. A thoughtful selection of works by French luminaries Charlotte Perriand\, Jean Prouvé\, and Serge Mouille is presented alongside visionary works by Ron Arad\, Choi Byung Hoon\, and Ettore Sottsass.  \nDesign Miami.Paris Design at Large Highlights\nThis year’s Paris fair also offers an extensive Design at Large program. It includes rare and significant works presented across the courtyard\, interior and gardens of L’hôtel de Maisons. The 17 presentations set to go on show span contemporary and historic highlights.  \nFriedman Benda (New York/LA/Paris) and Carpenters Workshop Gallery (London/Paris/New York/Los Angeles) present two works by celebrated American designer Wendell Castle (1932-2018)\, known for his groundbreaking approach to design and his crucial addition to the field’s sculptural vocabulary. \nAnother key highlight comes from Galerie Downtown-LAFFANOUR (Paris)\, which brings a Jean Prouvé post-war prefabricated house. It was originally built in 1946 in Prouvé’s home village\, Carnac. The house was designed with easy assembly and dismantling in mind\, intended to house his family. The only remaining building with Prouve’s signature character intact\, the house references a rich historical dimension. \nThe Carnac House\, by Jean Prouvé for Galerie Dowtown LAFFANOUR \nSalon 94 Design (New York) presents two editions of Rick Owens’s Tomb Chair. Through his choice of subtle and rare materials\, Owens suggests the beauty of nature\, inspired by his favorite shapes from Eileen Gray to Brâncuşi to the skateparks in California.  \nWhy visit\nDesign Miami.Paris is the French edition of Design Miami\, and like the other shows it is a collectors’ fair. Even for non-buyers\, it is an unmissable opportunity to see pieces by the great designers of the past up close. In addition\, the Design Art Large program offers a chance to see rarer pieces\, and contemporary designers who try their hand at one-of-a-kind pieces and limited editions. Design Miami.Paris\, moreover\, takes place in a stylish and elegant location and is also an opportunity to see collectible designs set in historic settings. \nDesign Miami.Paris\, October 16-19\, 2024\nFor professionals and general public\, admission ticket\nSize: one venue\, over 20 galleries\nVisit Design Miami.Paris for info
