SUMMARY:Courmayeur Design Weekend
DESCRIPTION:The fifth edition of the Courmayeur Design Week-end will once again transform Courmayeur\, its mountains\, and valleys into a showcase for Italian and international design\, from February 6 to 9\, 2025. As every year\, the region will not only provide a backdrop but will be a central part of the prestigious event\, bringing design to this alpine location\, far from the typical urban setting. Courmayeur Design Weekend is organized by Paola Silva Coronel in partnership with Courmayeur Mont Blanc\, under the patronage of the Industrial Design Association\, Altagamma Foundation\, the Architects’ Order\, and in collaboration with Courmayeur Mont Blanc Funivie and Skyway Monte Bianco. \nDiscover Courmayeur Design Week-end 2024 \nThe Courma Beach\, photo Giacomo Buzio\, courtesy Courmayeur Design Weekend \nCourmayeur Design Weekend 2025\nThis year’s theme is “Unexpected Directions\,” reflecting the awareness that\, in a world where everything tends to be predictable\, sometimes something unexpected happens. This requires the courage to dive into life\, like riding down a slope on a sled\, knowing that even losing control might be surprisingly positive. The theme will be explored through installations blending snow\, ice\, and creativity\, such as sleds decorated by a select group of architects. These will be auctioned off for charity during the Dinner Party on Saturday\, February 8\, at the Palazzetto dello Sport in Courmayeur. \nDiscover Pietrasanta Design Week-end \nCourmayeur Skyway. The main keynote speaker for 2025 will be Alberto Meda\, an engineer and industrial designer\, winner of numerous awards including 6 Compasso d’Oro\, 6 Red Dot Awards\, and Designer of the Year 1999. He has curated and participated in exhibitions from Tokyo to New York’s MoMA and Milan’s Triennale. Meda will speak at the “Talk on Top” event on Friday\, February 7 at the Skyway Monte Bianco Pavillon. \nOn February 7\, a preview of Alice’s Flowers\, a special edition Save The Glacier by fashion designer Tiziano Guardini and architect Luigi Ciuffreda\, will be presented. This project aims to protect glaciers and promote sustainability\, using regenerated cellulose. It features a flower-shaped pillow embroidered with emotions\, created as a versatile accessory for Kartell seating. \nDiscover Milan Design Week 2025 \nWhy visit\nDesign week-end is a format inspired by design weeks\, but it avoids large cities in favor of small towns and villages where local identity\, history\, landscape\, cultural context\, and even social life create the perfect setting for a new way of communication and sharing. Over the course of a weekend\, brands\, designers\, and communication professionals take the lead in exhibitions\, talks\, and installations. \nSelected from the most important Italian and international brands and figures\, they attract a diverse audience\, including both industry professionals and people interested in culture\, beauty\, and discovery. Design Weekend is a format and an organization that brings a complete package of content to each participating location. These contents evolve and enrich according to the specific features of the location and local traditions.  \nDesign Week-end is realized with the support of the Ministry of Tourism\, and the sponsorship of Altagamma\, ADI and the Order of Architects\, Planners\, Landscapers and Conservators of the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta. \nCourmayeur Design Week-end\, Courmayeur\, February 6-9\, 2025\nCourmayeur Design Week-end is open to the public\nDifferent locations\nVisit website Designweek-end.it for more info \nSome images from Courmayeur Design Week-end 2024
