DESCRIPTION:From 20-22 May 2025\, Clerkenwell Design Week (CDW) returns in London for the 14th edition\, with its most expansive edition yet. Spanning over 15 venues and featuring more than 160 local design showrooms\, Clerkenwell Design Week London 2025 promises a vibrant mix of installations\, global brands\, exhibitions\, and thought-provoking talks. \nDiscover Clerkenwell Design Week 2024 \nString Pocket shelving from String Furniture \nHeadline installations: brick and water\nLeading the charge is a striking new public artwork by British artist Alex Chinneck\, located in Charterhouse Square. Known for his architectural illusions\, Chinneck revisits the curving brick forms of his 2013 “sliding house” in Margate. This new interactive piece incorporates repurposed steel from a London demolition project\, with support from Cleveland Steel\, Crittall Windows\, FabSpeed\, and Michelmersh Brick Holdings PLC. The installation will remain on view beyond the festival. \nNearby on Clerkenwell Green\, Albion Stone and Hutton Stone unveil an ambitious pavilion designed by Hawkins\Brown and engineered by Webb Yates. Brick from a Stone: Arch Revival features two freestanding vaulted arches—one crafted from Hutton’s pale sandstone\, the other from Portland stone by Albion. Each arch is constructed from a single 102mm-thick layer of stone bricks\, showcasing both strength and elegance. \nDiscover London Design Festival 2024 \nQuilton sofa by Doshi Levien for Hay \nClerkenwell Design Week London 2025: Scandinavian innovation front and centre\nScandi design leads the international presence this year. At the MillerKnoll showroom\, HAY presents new collections by top designers including Erwan Bouroullec\, Doshi Levien\, and Niels Jørgen Haugesen. String Furniture makes its CDW debut at Old Sessions House\, where Kasthall also reveals its Fasad collection by David Chipperfield Design\, celebrating the brand’s 135th anniversary. \nLighting takes the spotlight at Muuto’s showroom in St John’s Square\, with new table lamps Beam by Tom Chung and Strand by Benjamin Hubert. On Old Street\, Ethimo unveils Patio by Studio Zanellato/Bortotto\, a striking outdoor furniture collection that showcases distinctive weaving techniques and expert teak craftsmanship. \n \nGrythyttan Stålmöbler\, the 130-year-old Swedish garden furniture brand\, presents its iconic A2 armchair by Artur Lindqvist in a fresh green colourway at the Church of Design at St Bartholomew the Great. Case returns to Groupwork to launch Campus\, an outdoor chair by Matthew Hilton. The chair features a punched seat and backrest\, with a galvanized\, powder-coated steel frame built to withstand the elements. Its solid weight keeps it stable even in strong winds. Also featured is the Narin folding chair by David Irwin\, now adapted for outdoor use. \nSpain takes the spotlight\nFor the first time\, CDW spotlights the Spanish Collection at The Charterhouse\, celebrating Spain’s design excellence by fusing tradition with innovation across various disciplines.
