SUMMARY:Genova Design Week 2026: "Balance"
DESCRIPTION:Contemporary design blends with the ancient maritime spirit of the city of Genoa. From June 3 to 7\, 2026\, Genova will again become the epicenter of design with the seventh edition of Genoa Design Week (GDW). \nOrganized by DiDe – Genoa Design District\, the event is not merely a showcase for furniture and design objects\, but a driving force for urban and cultural regeneration. For five days\, the city transforms into a vast open-air stage that brings squares\, historic buildings\, and the ancient harborfront to life\, engaging citizens\, professionals\, tourists\, and enthusiasts in a collective experience. \nDiscover Genova Design Week 2025 \nGenova Design Week 2026\nFor professionals and general public\nSize: 141 events\, 142 exhibitors\, 25\,000 visitors\nVarious locations \nVisit Didegenova.it for info \nView of Genoa \nThe 2026 Theme: “Balance”\nAfter exploring key concepts for the world of design such as Diffused Green (2021)\, Time (2022)\, Energy (2023)\, Design in Motion (2024)\, and Matter (2025)\, this year’s event focuses on a fascinating concept: Balance. \nIn an era marked by constant social\, technological\, and economic transitions\, balance is interpreted as the intrinsic ability of design to harmonize seemingly opposing demands. This does not refer to a static state or a compromise\, but rather to a constant dynamic capable of connecting: \n\n Form and function\n Manufacturing tradition and technological innovation\n Individual needs and ecological responsibility toward the environment\n\nEvents of Genoa Design Week 2026\nThe program for Genoa Design Week 2026 is structured around some of the most beloved and recognizable formats\, which have ensured the event’s success over the years. \nContainer 03: “Il Cielo in una Stanza” and the Challenge of Microliving\nInspired by Gino Paoli’s famous and poetic vision\, Genoa’s harbor and sky serve as the backdrop for a striking installation. Curated by Simona Finessi\, the exhibition route winds its way between the Old Port and the Darsena. Here\, ten architecture firms transform ten shipping containers into interior design projects.  \nThis year’s focus is Microliving. In a world ruled by limited spaces and flexible use\, the container becomes a laboratory for experimentation\, reimagining micro-living in a comfortable and innovative way. \nDiscover Tigullio Design District \nContainer 2\, 2025 \nDesigners Under 35 & Design Talk Festival\nThe future of design lives here. Curated by Laura Palazzini\, the Designers Under 35 exhibition offers a crucial showcase for emerging talent\, stimulating the emergence of new design languages focused on functionality and minimalism. In addition to the exhibitions\, young creatives will participate in meetings and workshops with established professionals. \nAt the same time\, the city is opening its most prestigious institutional venues for the Design Talk Festival\, a series of public talks moderated by Simona Finessi and Alfonso Femia. Here are the main events to mark on your calendar: \n\nPalazzo Tursi\, June 4: “City: Culture as the Driving Force Behind Urban Processes” – With Sandy Attia and Matteo Scagnol (MoDus Architects)\, Paolo Verri\, Mattia Palazzi (Mayor of Mantua)\, and Francesca Coppola.\nPalazzo della Regione Liguria\, June 5: “Surf and Turf” – With architects Leonardo Cavalli and Francesca Pintus of the international firm Oneworks\nPalazzo della ex Borsa Valori\, June 6: “Lectio Magistralis by Architect Odile Decq” – The French architect and founder of Studio Odile Decq will speak with Alfonso Femia and Filippo Manuzzi (President of Confindustria Ceramica) in the evocative Sala delle Grida \n\nPiazza Giustiniani\, Genova Historical centre \nWhat’s New in 2026\nThe event’s growth can also be measured by its new and ambitious curatorial\, artistic\, and local partnerships.  \n– F / A FakeAuthentic at Santa Maria di Castello\nFor the first time in Genoa\, the curatorial platform founded by architects Stefania Agostini and Luca Mostarda arrives. The splendid setting of Santa Maria di Castello (Sala della Cisterna)\, will host the exhibition SeeSaw (BILICO)\, an exploration of the unstable boundary between authenticity and artifice\, function and irony. In parallel\, the section MATERIALS IN TRANSIT | 28 Tables: From Discarded to Designed\, created in collaboration with ETH Zürich and curated by Débora Mesa Molina\, will showcase 28 experimental tables created from the recovery of discarded construction and industrial materials. \n– PuntaSanLorenzo: The Urban Beach in the Heart of the City\nFollowing the success of the “Annie” installation in 2025\, the caarpa architecture and landscape studio returns to amaze the public with a new interpretation of Piazza San Lorenzo. The square will be redesigned to resemble a stretch of the Ligurian coastline: beach umbrellas\, beach towels\, and beach gear will temporarily take over one of Genoa’s most monumental squares. An invitation for the public to sit\, linger\, and interact\, to experience the square beyond mere pedestrian traffic. \nPiazza San Lorenzo \n– Interior Architecture in Liguria\nHosted at Palazzo Saluzzo\, this exhibition shines a spotlight on local excellence and craftsmanship\, showcasing interior design projects from 50 architecture firms operating throughout the Liguria region. The exhibition\, enhanced by a special publication from Platform magazine\, will evolve into the Architecture Festival: two days of talks where selected architects will take the stage to share their design ideas and philosophies. \nThe Numbers Behind the Success: A Growing Trend\nTo understand the real impact of this event on the region\, just take a look at the data from the 2025 edition: \n\n141 events in total\, including conferences\, talks\, and cultural events\n142 exhibitors from major Italian cities (Milan\, Turin\, Bologna\, Florence\, Venice) and 5 major international cities (Paris\, Madrid\, Barcelona\, Valencia\, and Amsterdam)\n25 designers under 35 actively involved\nA dense network of architects studios participating in special formats (21 in Container\, 80 in Best Houses Design\, 24 in Design Radar)\n\nWhy visit\n\nA Unique Backdrop: See cutting-edge contemporary design contrast beautifully with Genoa’s historic palaces and ancient maritime waterfront.\nImmersive Installations: Experience the city transformed into an interactive playground—from shipping containers turned into futuristic micro-homes to a monumental city square reimagined as a Ligurian beach.\nGlobal Inspiration: Hear directly from architecture icons like Odile Decq and discover the next wave of global talent shaping the future of sustainable living. \n\nGenova Design Week 2026\nFor professionals and general public\nSize: 141 events\, 142 exhibitors\, 25\,000 visitors\nVarious locations \nVisit Didegenova.it for info \n  \n

SUMMARY:3daysofdesign in Copenhagen 2026: Make This Moment Matter
DESCRIPTION:The world of design often finds itself caught between two worlds: the reverence of the past and the speculation of the future. For 3daysofdesign 2026\, the focus shifts to the most profound place of all: the present. \nThe newly announced theme\, “Make This Moment Matter\,” serves as a call to action for designers\, architects\, and creatives worldwide to find purpose in the “now.” \nQuick Facts for 3daysofdesign 2026\n3daysofdesign\, Copenhagen\, June 10-12\, 2026\nFor professionals and general public\nSize: 460+brands\, 600+ events\, 60\,000+ visitors\nVarious locations\, 8 Design Districts\nVisit 3daysofdesign.dk for info \nDiscover 3daysofdesign 2025 \nDiscover the events in our curated map for 3daysofdesign 2026\n	\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Click to load the interactive map\n \n \n\n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n3daysofdesign 2026: the main theme\nThe theme for the 2026 edition of Copenhagen’s premier design festival is “Make This Moment Matter.” \nWhile Danish design is rooted in a legendary past and a visionary future\, this theme emphasizes that the only moment with the power to create change is the present. It encourages the global design community to move beyond speculation and take proactive\, meaningful action. \nKey pillars of the 2026 theme: \n\nDefining the “Why”: Design without purpose is static. Meaningful design requires a clear intention behind every creation.\nSustainability & Planet: Choosing materials that do not harm the environment.\nHuman Wellbeing: Crafting interiors and spaces that improve our daily lives.\nCommunity & Belonging: Building inclusive environments that foster connection.\n\nDiscover the history of 3daysofdesign \n3daysofdesign 2025 \nThe visual identity: Artwork by “On Display”\nEvery year\, 3daysofdesign unveils a new visual identity. For 2026\, the artwork was created by On Display\, a cross-disciplinary design studio and collective founded by Anders Gerning\, Marie Heissel\, and Tor S. Johannesen. \nSymbolism of the 2026 Artwork \nThe 2026 visual identity is a poetic collage featuring two primary elements: \n\nThe Black Lily in a Vase: A still life representing the beauty and stillness of the present.\nThe Origami Teller: Superimposed over the lily\, this playful\, universal object represents hidden answers and the anticipation of discovery.\n\nThe juxtaposition of these elements captures the “moment in between”—the transition from what was to what will be. \nWhy “Make This Moment Matter” matters for the design industry\nAs we look toward 2026\, the design industry faces a pivotal moment. The theme suggests that every choice—from material sourcing to spatial layout – has a ripple effect. By focusing on the present\, designers can create a legacy that starts today rather than waiting for an uncertain future. \nDiscover Dutch Design Week 2025 \n  \n \n3daysofdesign 2026: a Guide to the 8 Design Districts\, making this moment matter\nCopenhagen is once again preparing to transform into the global epicenter of creativity. As June 2026 approaches\, the city isn’t just hosting a festival; it’s providing a blueprint for how design can – and should – interact with our world. This year’s theme\, ‘Make This Moment Matter’\, serves as a call to action for intentionality\, clarity\, and care in everything we create and consume. \n3daysofdesign 2025 \nExploring the 8 Design Districts\n– Islands Brygge: The Waterfront Renaissance \nOnce a gritty landscape of warehouses and manufacturing\, Islands Brygge has evolved into a masterclass in urban transformation. Since the late 1990s\, former industrial zones have been reimagined as public spaces. \n\nWhat to expect: Contemporary architecture meeting historic industrial structures\, with the harbor front acting as a vibrant social hub.\n\nVIPP Garage\, at Islands Brygge District \n– District Christianshavn: The Artisan’s Anchor \nFounded by King Christian IV in the 17th century\, this district feels like a “city within a city.” Its Dutch-inspired canals were once the lifeblood of Danish trade. \n\nWhat to expect: A deep focus on craftsmanship and maritime history\, where workshops still echo the skills of centuries past.\n\nMaterial Matters\, exhibition in the Christianshavn District \n– District Holmen: Where Legacy Meets the Launchpad \nHolmen is a 300-year-old naval district that has traded warships for workstations. It is home to the Royal Danish Academy\, making it the literal starting point for the next generation of designers. \n\nWhat to expect: A contrast between old dockside buildings and cutting-edge galleries\, featuring many of the most iconic Danish design brands.\n\nFantoni at Emfima showroom\, in Holmen District \n– District Frederiksstaden: The Height of Sophistication \nIf you’re looking for the “monarchy” of design\, this is it. Planned as a coherent urban ensemble in the 18th century\, it remains one of the finest examples of Rococo architecture in Europe. \n\nWhat to expect: Stately mansions\, intricate ornamentation\, and a sense of power and continuity that remains largely intact.\n\nMutina exhibition\, at Frederiksstaden District \n– District Kongens Nytorv: The Ceremonial Center \nThe “King’s New Square” is the hinge where Copenhagen’s history\, culture\, and luxury meet. SUMMARY:Gdynia Design Days 2026
DESCRIPTION:Gdynia Design Days return for the 19th edition\, from June 20 to 28\, 2026. The festival is a design platform – culminating in its summer festival – dedicated to finding tangible solutions to contemporary challenges. Rather than treating design as an elite luxury\, the organizers view it as a democratic\, universal tool for positive change that impacts everyone’s daily life. \n\nGdynia Design Days 2026\nJune 20-28\n18+ exhibitions\nOpening hours: \nAt PPNT h. 12:00 – 8:00 pm\nExhibitions at other locations around the city will be open according to the descriptions \n  \n\n \nGdynia Design Days 2026 \nThe core theme of this year’s Gdynia Design Days\, “Closer\,” marks a pivotal shift in perspective\, moving away from catastrophic narratives\, information overload\, and the paralyzed pursuit of perfection. Instead\, it champions a grounded approach that focuses on what is immediate\, tangible\, and within human agency. Rather than inventing endless new solutions\, the festival explores how to optimize\, care for\, and improve what already exists. \nThe theme is articulated through five interconnected pillars:\n\nEmpowering Stories & Agency: In a world paralyzed by fear and complex data\, design is utilized as a tool to simplify and organize reality. By replacing anxiety with attentiveness and isolation with collaboration\, the festival brings back the joy of experimentation\, processing\, and mutual learning.\nCommunity & The “Third Place”: Shifting focus from grand gestures to everyday bonds\, this pillar highlights the importance of the spaces between home and work. It fosters a new kind of local patriotism rooted in shared responsibility\, accessibility\, and turning urban infrastructure into spaces for genuine human connection.\nDesigning for Health & Bioregionalism: Environmental care becomes tangible when linked to personal well-being (air quality\, temperature\, and comfort). By adopting a bioregional perspective\, design works in harmony with local natural ecosystems—such as local landscapes\, water\, and greenery—rather than separating humans from nature.\nHuman–Technology Proximity: Instead of viewing Artificial Intelligence as a threat or a replacement\, the festival explores how technology can support human intuition. Paradoxically\, the rise of AI highlights the irreplaceable value of human imperfection\, empathy\, and relationship-building.\nOne Step Bette (Protopia over Utopia): Rejecting unattainable utopian ideals\, the festival introduces protopia—the concept of building a better future through gradual\, small\, and tested adjustments. Looking toward Gdynia’s upcoming centenary\, the theme emphasizes that the future is not a distant\, perfect destination\, but a daily process shaped by incremental\, resilient choices.\n\nGdynia Design Days 2025 – Photo Jan Rusek\, Gdynia Design Days \nThe program: the exhibitions\nZero Waste Lab – Design from Bacteria\nThis exhibition bridges the gap between advanced laboratory bio-science and everyday consumer design. It explores the potential of raw\, 100% biodegradable biopolymers (such as PHA and PHB) as an eco-responsible alternative to traditional plastics\, showcasing real\, durable\, and contemporary prototypes of furniture and home accessories. \nAntyaltana – reversed gazebo\nInstalled outside the festival venue\, this spatial and architectural intervention completely flips the traditional concept of a garden gazebo. The piece challenges visitors to rethink the boundary between public and private space\, questioning how we shield ourselves from\, and interact with\, urban weather elements. \nProject Furniture: Futuro Classic\nAn exhibition dedicated to industrial and interior furniture design that examines the evolution and future standards of design classics. It focuses heavily on manufacturing optimization\, demonstrating how everyday seating and objects can be redesigned to be resilient\, ergonomic\, and closer to real human needs. \nCASTCERAMICS – International Ceramic Exhibition\nAn international collective showcase focusing on the art and craftsmanship of ceramics. It sets up a dialogue between ancient manual techniques\, cultural memory\, and contemporary experimentation\, celebrating material imperfections and the spirit of cross-border artistic cooperation. \nCastceramics\, photo Maja Tybel\, Gdynia Design Days \nLiving Forms: Symbiosis\nAdopting a deeply bioregional and ecological perspective\, this exhibition highlights design projects born from a harmonious dialogue with nature. It explores how human structures (buildings\, objects\, and furniture) can live in perfect symbiosis with local ecosystems\, strengthening regional flora and fauna rather than isolating us from them. \nDoing Nothing\nA highly conceptual and provocative display analyzing the luxury of time\, mental health\, and modern information overload. Through minimalist objects and artistic installations\, the exhibition tackles urban anxiety\, burnout\, and the psychological necessity of rediscovering the therapeutic value of taking a pause. \nPlaything | A Statue Of Felicity\, A Monument to Pure Bliss\nSituated in the outdoor green areas of the venue\, this large-scale interactive installation serves as a physical monument to carefree\, unapologetic play. It intentionally disrupts the rigid\, serious monotony of urban architecture to foster spontaneous joy\, laughter\, and lighthearted interactions among strangers. \nMomento Sospeso. Towards Connection\nHosted within the unique atmosphere of the Barańska Design studio\, this sensory exhibition explores the profound concept of physical and emotional connection. Through the artistic manipulation of glass and light\, it creates a suspended\, meditative atmosphere that urges visitors to reflect on interpersonal proximity. \n100 Vases\nA vast display of one hundred unique pieces celebrating the archetypal form of the vase. Each artifact explores varying materials\, raw textures\, organic imperfections\, and artisanal insights\, serving as a visual metaphor for the creative wealth that emerges when diverse design styles and approaches unite. \nSpiders\nThis exhibition modernizes and reinterprets pająki – traditional Polish straw and paper geometric chandeliers historically hung from rural ceilings. Contemporary designers take these complex\, fragile structures and scale them into modern spatial installations\, showing how ancestral heritage can serve as an emotional anchor today. \nPajaki (Spiders)\, Pawel Blecki\, photo Pawel Blecki\, Gdynia Design Days \nDesire Paths\nDedicated to urban planning guided by actual human behavior\, this exhibition studies “desire paths” (the spontaneous shortcuts people tread across grass). It champions a move away from rigid\, top-down city planning\, arguing instead for an empathetic\, flexible urbanism based on citizens’ true habits. \nCloser to trashes\nA raw and direct exhibition addressing the systemic crisis of urban and industrial waste management. Instead of hiding rubbish from view\, the display physically confronts the visitor with discarded materials\, highlighting innovative recycling and upcycling technologies that transform waste into valuable structural resources. \nDyplomyFest\nThe official showcase collecting the finest graduation projects and theses from the young designers of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. It offers a fresh\, unedited look into the future of the discipline\, highlighting the anxieties\, dreams\, and drive for agency within the new generation.\n \nWhy visit\nAs one of Poland’s premier cities and a popular Baltic Sea tourist destination\, Gdynia’s seaside location brings a unique and fascinating perspective to its Design Week. The festival’s diverse exhibitions deeply delve into the vast potential of design\, complemented by a rich lineup of guest speakers addressing critical topics like well-being\, harmonious living with nature\, and how design can pave the way toward a better life. From cultivating hydroponic vegetables and researching algae to utilizing recycled materials\, Gdynia Design Days truly serves as a treasure trove of practical solutions for a more sustainable lifestyle. \nGdynia Design Days\, June 20-28\, 2026\nFor professionals and general public\nSize: 18+exhibitions\, 20\,000 visitors\nMain venue: PPNT – Pomeranian Science and Technology Park Gdynia\n(Pomorski Park Naukowo-Technologiczny)\nOpening hours:\nAt PPNT h. 12:00 – 8:00 pm\nExhibitions at other locations around the city will be open according to the descriptions\nVisit Gdyniadesigndays.eu for info

SUMMARY:CIFF Shanghai 2026
DESCRIPTION:Against a global backdrop of deep transformation in the furniture sector\, CIFF – China International Furniture Fair Shanghai 2026 arrives with a sharpened strategic vision built on three pillars: design\, digital intelligence and sustainability. The 58th edition opens this September at Shanghai Hongqiao\, and its ambitions reach well beyond those of a conventional trade fair. The event positions itself as an international platform where business\, innovation\, content and global connections meet – an industrial hub where design culture\, digital technologies and new visions of living converge to redefine the sector. \nCIFF Shanghai\, September\, 5-8\, 2026\nCIFF Shanghai is for professionals only\nSize: over 1\,500 exhibitors\, 100\,000 visitors in 2025\nVenue: National Exhibition and Convention Center Shanghai Hongqiao\nVisit CIFF-sh.com website for more info \n  \nDiscover CIFF Shanghai 2025 \n \nDesign: creating new value for brands\nDesign now sits at the heart of brand identity\, product value and competitive differentiation\, and CIFF Shanghai is leaning into that shift. The fair reinforces its role as a reference point for contemporary design and original furniture in China\, anchored by Design Eden · Contemporary Design Trade Fair—a 50\,000-square-metre area given over to design brands\, creative studios and emerging independent designers\, with exhibitions\, forums\, awards and product launches. \nThe programme also hosts the CIFF Shanghai Design Conference\, bringing together international designers and some of China’s most influential creatives\, alongside the launch of the Golden Creation Award\, dedicated to product innovation and the new benchmarks of design. \nDiscover CIFF Shanghai 2024 \n \nDigital intelligence: new retail models\, greater efficiency\nDigitalisation and intelligent technologies are reshaping the entire supply chain\, from production and distribution through to the point of sale. Among the headline additions this year is a redesigned New Retail Hall\, an 8\,000-square-metre space where 15 leading brands present integrated retail scenarios that blend online and offline channels with data-driven management. \nVirtual and augmented reality bring immersive product and spatial experiences\, while an enhanced online platform—supported by a multilingual official website and an integrated social media ecosystem—offers a full suite of digital services to exhibitors and international buyers. In partnership with Red Star Macalline\, CIFF Shanghai is also launching a national matchmaking programme designed to forge more efficient connections between brands\, distributors and retail channels. \n \nSustainability: competitiveness for the long term\nSustainability has become a shared priority across the industry\, from eco-friendly materials to low-carbon production processes. Running alongside the fair\, the CIFF Shanghai WMF International Woodworking Machinery Fair showcases advanced technologies for more sustainable woodworking and more efficient use of resources. \nThe Golden Creation Award 2026 introduces a dedicated Green Sustainability Award to champion recyclable structures\, eco-compatible materials and low-emission construction solutions. A new International Materials Selection Center presents next-generation sustainable materials\, supporting the green transformation of production chains.\n \nDiscover CIFF Guangzhou 2026 \n \nThree content areas at CIFF Shanghai 2026\nCIFF Shanghai 2026 is organised around three main content zones: Design Eden\, devoted to original design and new product launches; New Retail\, focused on immersive retail scenarios and data-driven business models; and Integrated Home Building\, developed together with the China International Building & Decoration Fair 2026 (Shanghai) in response to growing demand for integrated interior design solutions. \n \nAn increasingly global platform\nTo strengthen its international presence\, CIFF Shanghai continues to invest across five strategic segments: woodworking machinery\, upholstered furniture\, outdoor living\, office spaces\, and living and dining spaces. In parallel\, the fair is expanding its international roadshows\, its collaborations with design media and institutions\, and its matchmaking programmes for global buyers. In 2025\, these initiatives generated more than 470 business meetings and on-site orders worth over 8.14 million US dollars. Building on those results\, the 2026 edition aims to raise the quality of connections between exhibitors and international markets further still. \n \nContent and immersive experiences\nCIFF Shanghai 2026 also deepens its role as a cultural platform through five curated exhibitions: The Hidden Realm Thematic Exhibition\, HOTLINE – Joint Exhibition of Design Creators\, Grand Tea Gala\, The Design & Imagination Contemporary Design Exhibition\, and Design Gravity. Together they explore new relationships between design\, lifestyles\, sustainability and commercial transformation through immersive experiences and interdisciplinary experimentation. \nFrom trade fair to industrial platform\nAs it steadily strengthens its capacity for content creation and resource integration\, CIFF Shanghai is evolving on several fronts: from a single fair into a year-round active platform\, from the simple distribution of information into collaborative content creation\, and from exhibition services into a broader ecosystem of industrial services. \nWith design as the creative engine\, digital intelligence as the tool of transformation and sustainability as the strategic foundation\, CIFF Shanghai 2026 sets out a forward-looking vision for the global furniture industry. This September\, at Shanghai Hongqiao\, the international sector gathers once again to open a new chapter for design\, manufacturing and global trade. \n \nWhy visit\nBecause it’s no longer just a trade fair\, but a year-round industrial platform built on three pillars—design\, digital intelligence and sustainability. SUMMARY:Paris Design Week 2026: Full Programme & Highlights
DESCRIPTION:From September 10 to 19\, 2026\, Paris Design Week comes back for the 16th edition\, with more energy than ever. The programme spreads out across Le Marais\, Saint-Germain-des-Prés\, Opéra and Bastille\, mixing galleries\, showrooms\, schools and heritage venues that open up just for the occasion. This year the event brings in more guest countries and scenes than before\, and it welcomes new addresses that add fresh momentum to a map that keeps growing. \nParis Design Week\, September 10-19\, 2026\nFor professional and general public \nSize: 360 venues\, 543 designers and creators\,\n4 main districts\, 5 major thematic routes\nOver 250\,000 visitors in 2024\nVisit Maison-objet.com/en/paris-design-week for info\n \nDiscover Paris Design Week 2025 \nParis Design Week Factory 2025. Photo Greg Sevaz\, courtesy Paris Design Week \nFactory: a launchpad for emerging talent\nParis Design Week Factory keeps building on its role as a testing ground for emerging creators and collectible design. The route runs through four sites in Le Marais\, curated this year by a new duo\, Jean-Baptiste Durand and Simon Geringer. \nAt Espace Commines\, around forty exhibitors set out to break free from labels like “design”\, “art” and “craft”\, leaving room for pure creativity. Emerging creators bring their pieces into dialogue with each other in a scenography that steers away from a classic trade-fair layout\, at 116 rue de Turenne. At 16 rue des Minimes\, established designers and publishers show pieces at every stage of production\, from prototype to finished object. And at 10 rue de Turenne\, the China Creative Pavilion puts on Bon Goût! Good Taste!\, an exhibition that looks at how taste and aesthetics connect across cultures. \nThe Manufacture des Gobelins also joins in with three exhibitions grouped under “Vivement Demain”\, including a showcase of recent graduates and the finalists of the Prix Jeune Création Mobilier national 2026. \nDiscover Paris Design Week 2024 \nParis Design Week\, Vana Lume. Photo courtesy Paris Design Week \nDeliberate friction\, breaking free from labels\nDurand and Geringer sum up their curatorial line in one phrase: “deliberate friction – breaking free from labels.” Across the three venues\, practices that are sometimes less than five years old sit side by side without hierarchy\, forming what they call an almost museum-like dialogue. At Espace Commines\, around forty proposals unfold inside a scenography built like a photographic studio\, isolating and framing each piece so it takes on an almost sculptural presence. At 116 rue de Turenne\, the space works more like a breathing zone\, where singular worlds overlap and sometimes blend together. \nNames to watch\, and practical details\nNames to watch across the route include Rush Drayton\, Jan Slanina\, Maori Kimura Design Studio\, Lorenzo Tirabosco\, Matthijs Koerts\, Omnibite\, Ludovica Corti\, Hanzhang Studio and Hyacinthe Trottin\, alongside established publishers and studios at 16 rue des Minimes such as Henri Texier\, Mercoeur and Géraldine Pouzet Luminaires. Factory opens to press and professionals on September 9\, then to the public from September 10 to 14. \nDesign sur Cour: heritage sites\, seen anew\nThe “Design sur Cour” programme hands over some of Paris’s most iconic buildings to contemporary designers\, and this edition delivers a run of striking projects. \nAt the Grand Palais\, Julien Sebban for Uchronia fills the Rotonde d’Antin with Le Grand Bouquet\, a monumental floral installation built with several French craft houses. At the Musée Bourdelle\, Anthony Guerrée sets his “free forms” in wood\, glass\, textile and clay in dialogue with Antoine Bourdelle’s sculptures. \nAnthony Guerrée\, photo by Alexandre Onimus\, courtesy Paris Design Week \nThe Hôtel de la Marine hosts two projects at once: Hanjimania\, a Franco-Korean exploration of traditional hanji paper that brings together names like Pierre Yovanovitch and Constance Guisset\, and Astre Mobile\, where Maison Lacmé’s Antoine Tauvel turns a car into a total work of art. \nJoseph Walsh\, this year’s guest of honour\, takes over the orangery\, gardens and main courtyard of the Hôtel de Sully with an installation of ash sculptures that seem to defy gravity. Meanwhile\, at the Arc de Triomphe\, Jeremy Pradier-Jeauneau’s La Tempête turns the climb to the top into an immersive\, sensitive experience. \nAt the Archives Nationales\, Pierre Renart reworks the gardens of the Hôtel de Rohan with Arabesque\, a Moabi-wood installation for Maison Parisienne\, while Johanna de Clisson brings a set of white stoneware sculptures to the Hôtel de Soubise garden. \nDown at Place de la Bastille\, Studio 5.5 wraps the July Column in La Re-prise de la Bastille\, a monumental piece made from recycled clothing that speaks to sustainable fashion and the memory of the site. \nParis and the World\nParis Design Week keeps pulling in perspectives from far beyond France. The Polish Cultural Institute presents “The Matter of the Earth”\, a look at a new generation of Polish collectible design. The Swedish Institut explores order and restraint through “Tout est en ordre”\, and the Maison du Danemark shows off seven Danish names\, from Kodanska’s glassware to Tom Rossau’s paper lamps. \nThe Institut du Monde Arabe announces the winners of its fourth Design Prize on September 9\, celebrating creators from the Arab League countries. Lafayette Anticipations teams up with Arts AlUla\, Design Space AlUla and AFALULA for “The Life of Forms”\, pairing works from AlUla’s design residencies with pieces from its own collection. And at Le Bon Marché\, “The Call of the Archipelago” turns the whole store toward Japan\, alongside countries as varied as the Czech Republic\, Finland\, Mexico\, Guatemala\, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. \nPrix du design de l’Institut du monde arabe 2025\, remise des prix le 3 septembre 2025 à l’auditorium. Photo courtesy Paris Design Week \nNew addresses join the map\nThe 2026 edition brings a wave of new venues into the fold. Pierre Frey opens a 500 m² space dedicated entirely to furniture at 14 rue du Mail. Studio Andrée Putman unveils its own Paris gallery in the 7th arrondissement\, and Aurélien Jeauneau shows his first personal furniture and lighting collection\, titled “The Lions Are Unleashed”. The Galerie Emma Donnersberg opens where collectible design meets contemporary art\, and House of Cassandre debuts an immersive showroom on boulevard Raspail built around sculptural textiles and scent. Karen Swami also takes over a new ceramics space near the Luxembourg Gardens. \nStudio Andrée Putman. Photo Veronese\, courtesy Paris Design Week \nCollectible design takes centre stage\nFor those drawn to rare and exclusive pieces\, the edition offers plenty to track down. SUMMARY:Maison&Objet Pulse: A New Beat for the September 2026 Edition
DESCRIPTION:Maison&Objet returns from September 10 to 14\, 2026\, with a fresh name and a clear intent to move things forward. The show launches Maison&Objet Pulse\, and its theme\, Pulse in Motion\, puts energy and action at the center. At a time when many brands pause to analyze instead of act\, this edition wants to bring ideas to life and turn design into a driver of real change. \nMaison & Objet\, September 10-14\, 2026\, Paris Nord Villepinte\nTheme: Pulse in Motion\nAmbassador: Masquespacio\nSize: 2\,300 exhibitors\, over 60\,000 visitors\nFor professional only\nFor info & tickets: Maison-Objet.com\nOpening hours:\nThursday – Sunday h. 9:30 AM- 6:30 PM\nMonday h. 9:30 AM – 6 PM \nThe visitor journey now runs through seven sectors: Decor & Design\, Cook & Share\, Fine Craft – métiers d’art\, Wellness & Beauty\, Fragrance & Ambiance\, Gift & Play\, and Fashion & Accessories. Each one brings together craftsmanship\, new uses\, and fresh ideas that point to where our living spaces are headed. \nDiscover Paris Design Week September 2026 \nMaison & Objet September 2025 \nMasquespacio\, Maison&Objet Pulse Ambassador September 2026\nDesign studio Masquespacio takes on the role of ambassador for September 2026 with FEEL THE SHIFT\, an installation made just for the show. The piece digs into the links between people\, spaces\, and emotions. Masquespacio wants visitors to feel\, in a very physical way\, how a space can shape behavior and a sense of belonging. The studio calls it a spatial manifesto\, and it fits the Pulse in Motion theme well: design as a tool that brings people together and sparks emotion. \nDiscover Maison & Objet 2025 \nMasquespacio installation at Maison & Objet 2026 \nEmerging Design Talent at Paris Design Week and Maison&Objet\nMaison&Objet and Paris Design Week both put a spotlight on emerging creators this September. A handful of programs work toward the same goal: (im)Pulse\, the Rising Talent Awards\, Future On Stage\, and Paris Design Week Factory. \nAt the core of Hall 5A sits the Design District\, curated once again by Hall Haus\, the collective founded by Abdoulaye Niang\, Sammy Bernoussi\, Teddy Sanches\, and Zakari Boukhari. The group has built a name for itself in France’s design scene by mixing scenography\, art direction\, and design. \nDiscover Maison & Objet September 2024 \nMaison & Objet Hall Haus. Photo Marion Gomez\, courtesy Maison & Objet \nInside the Design District\, Future On Stage picks three young companies for their vision and their drive to change everyday habits. The Rising Talent Awards\, meanwhile\, turn to South Africa this year and bring forward seven designers carrying fresh energy from that scene. \nAlongside these established programs\, Maison&Objet launches (im)Pulse: new spaces built to give emerging design brands a real platform to show their work and reach buyers. \nFuture on Stage 2025 \nCook & Share: Design Trends in Kitchen and Tableware\nThe Cook & Share sector takes on cooking and entertaining as spaces for innovation and craft. Chefs cook live on site\, and industry voices share their take on where the sector is headed\, with talks organized as Les Rendez-Vous by Cook & Share by La Filière France. \nThis edition’s guest is Sarah Espeute\, who brings a soft\, poetic touch to table linens and embroidered textiles\, mixing tradition with a contemporary eye. \nWhat’s New In Retail: Pauline Glaizal’s “A New Breath”\nPauline Glaizal curates What’s New? In Retail this year under the title “A New Breath.” Set in Hall 7\, the space guides visitors through a sensory selection of pieces and talents drawn straight from the show floor\, built around “shop the look” picks that make sourcing easier and more direct. \nIn Materia: Fine Craft and Métiers d’Art by Elizabeth Leriche\nAt the entrance to the Fine Craft sector\, Elizabeth Leriche curates In Materia\, a space that gathers unique pieces and limited editions from international artisans. The scenography runs in a circle\, letting artworks\, textures\, and colors speak to each other. Leriche treats material itself as something alive\, shaped over time by craft and by change. \nMaison & Objet\, IN MATERIA \nTalks\, Retail Coaching\, and Pitch My Brand\nThe show’s talk program covers interior design\, hospitality\, retail\, and food culture through Talks\, Retail Coaching sessions\, Les Rendez-Vous Cook & Share by La Filière France\, and Pitch My Brand. The last one is new this year: brands get five minutes to pitch what makes them different\, with a focus on retail and hospitality concepts. \nMOM Marketplace 10th Anniversary at Maison&Objet\nMaison&Objet’s marketplace\, MOM\, marks its tenth birthday with The MOM Village\, built around discovery and exchange. The program runs an exhibition called Design Through the Years\, tracing a decade of trends through key products from the marketplace\, plus The MOM Apartment\, an immersive space by Masquespacio with Visionaries 777 Ltd.\, along with activities and gifts for visitors. \nMOM 10th anniversary \nPAPELARIA’s SUSPENSION: Paper Installation Design\nPAPELARIA studio\, founded by Fabiola and Christian Pentagna\, presents SUSPENSION\, a sculptural paper installation that turns organic curves into a tactile landscape. The piece treats paper as its own medium\, closer to sculpture than to a support material\, and invites visitors to see nature as something that keeps reinventing itself. \nMaison&Objet After Show: Aftershows and Events\nFrom Thursday to Sunday\, starting at 4:30 PM\, the show extends onto the esplanade with Aftershows\, DJ sets and happy hours included\, closing each day on a lighter note. \nWhy Visit Maison&Objet Pulse September 2026\n\nNew Pulse identity across seven redesigned sectors\nExclusive installation by ambassador studio Masquespacio\nFresh talent through (im)Pulse\, Rising Talent Awards\, and Future On Stage\nLive cooking\, craft\, and retail talks all in one show\nMOM marketplace’s 10th anniversary celebrations\n\nMaison & Objet\, September 10-14\, 2026\, Paris Nord Villepinte\nTheme: Pulse in Motion\nAmbassador: Masquespacio\nSize: 2\,300 exhibitors\, over 60\,000 visitors\nFor professional only\nFor info & tickets: Maison-Objet.com\nOpening hours:\nThursday – Sunday h. 9:30 AM- 6:30 PM\nMonday h. 9:30 AM – 6 PM

SUMMARY:London Design Festival 2026
DESCRIPTION:Soho joins the Map\, China and Japan take centre stage\nLondon Design Festival‘s 24th edition runs from 12 to 20 September 2026. Soho becomes the eleventh district\, joining Bankside\, Brompton\, Chelsea\, Dalston to Stokey\, EC1\, Fleet Street Quarter\, Mayfair\, Park Royal\, Blackhorse Creates and the renamed Shoreditch Design Week. The Mayor of London is Principal Supporter this year\, while Bloomberg Philanthropies continues to back the Festival through the Bloomberg Connects digital guide. The stated theme for 2026 is dialogue – East and West\, past and future\, human and non-human – and it shows most clearly in three projects built around Chinese and Japanese craft. \nDiscover London Design Festival 2025 \nQuick Facts for London Design Festival 2026\nLondon Design Festival\, London\, September 12-20\, 2026\nFor professionals and general public\nSize: 11 Design Districts\, 350\,000+ visitors\nHub: V&A South Kensington\nOther venues: Barbican\, Somerset House\, the Strand\, Wapping\nIn general\, free admission\, some events require paid tickets  \nCheck the complete guide & calendar for opening hours \nVisit londondesignfestival.com for info \nFraming LDF 2026\, Courtesy Pentagram & London Design Festival \nThe Asia Programme\nAt Somerset House\, Chinese media group Sun Media Group presents Reviving Craft — Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage and Contemporary Design. It’s the third edition of the exhibition\, after the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 2024 and Palazzo Serbelloni in Milan in 2025. Curators Su Dan (Tsinghua University\, Academy of Arts & Design) and Yang Lan (broadcaster\, chair of Sun Media Group) bring together more than sixty Chinese and international artisans under the theme Reflection of the Mind. Sun Media Group is also a Programme Partner of the Global Design Forum this year. \nThe Japanese artisans pair with designers\nCraft x Tech returns for its second edition\, curated by Maria Cristina Didero and founded by Hideki Yoshimoto of design studio Tangent. It pairs craftspeople from Japan’s Tokai region with international designers: Australian designer David Caon with third-generation ceramicist Yohei Ito\, Singapore studio Lanzavecchia + Wai with paper-maker Takanori Senda\, Canadian designer Philippe Malouin with Ando Cloisonne\, a metalwork house founded in 1880. \nDiscover Material Matters 2026 \nCraft x Tech Tokai Project group photo. The 23-piece collection covers furniture\, lighting\, textiles and accessories\, available from MADE.COM from August 2026. \nMade x Barbican collection \nAt the V&A\, this year’s edition of V&A x LDF is titled Awakenings\, co-curated by Carrie Chan and Kristian Volsing. The programme spans the museum’s galleries and includes work from Henry Svendsen\, Sam Ghantous\, Andre Williams\, Nina Davies and Albert Yonathan Setyawan\, alongside new commissions from Aziza Kadyri\, Eunjo Lee and V&A Emerging Designer 2026\, Playfool. \nThe Design Museum’s LDF programme includes NIGO: From Japan with Love\, the first retrospective on NIGO\, KENZO’s Artistic Director. The museum’s annual PLATFORM series presents new work by designer and artist Simone Brewster\, with a guided tour by curator Hadeel Eltayeb on 12 September and a panel on design practice and motherhood on 15 September\, featuring Brewster\, Laxmi Hussein\, Emefa Cole and Hettie Judah. \nL-Acoustics presents an immersive sound installation at Wapping Hydraulic Power Station\, built in 1890 and open to the public for the first time in 13 years. \nThe eleven Design Districts\nSoho and Shoreditch Design Week carry the most defined programmes this year. \nSoho joins the Festival for the first time\, led by Informare’s Anna King\, with a programme involving architects\, property developers and branding agencies. \nShoreditch Design Week\, the evolution of the former Shoreditch Design Triangle\, is now the Festival’s largest district: more than sixty showrooms and galleries\, running 15–20 September\, with four main exhibition venues concentrated in the first three days around emerging designers and new materials. \nDiscover Shoreditch Design Week first edition \nMaterial Matters at Unlocked \nThe remaining nine districts — Bankside\, Brompton\, Chelsea\, Dalston to Stokey\, EC1\, Fleet Street Quarter\, Mayfair\, Park Royal and Blackhorse Creates — complete the Festival’s map. \nMedals\, Launch Pad and Identity\nThe London Design Medals will be awarded on 14 September across four categories: London Design Medal\, Lifetime Achievement Medal\, Emerging Design Medal and Design Innovation Medal. Winners are announced in early September. \nPith® sponsors five emerging designers through the Festival’s Launch Pad initiative this year\, giving participants a physical or digital platform plus editorial coverage across LDF and Pith® channels. Applications closed 31 July 2026\, with participants announced in August. \nPentagram\, the Festival’s design partner for more than two decades\, developed this year’s graphic identity under the theme Framing LDF. \nWhy visit\nCombined with a new district\, an enlarged Global Design Forum and the Festival’s usual concentration of museum and gallery programming\, it is one of the few weeks in the calendar where these conversations are staged at this scale in one city. For an Asia-focused audience\, LDF26 offers three exhibitions built directly around Chinese and Japanese craft\, backed by institutional partners on both sides — Sun Media Group\, Tsinghua University\, and a first UK platform for a number of Shenzhen design and tech brands.  \nThe V&A’s Awakenings\, the Design Museum’s NIGO retrospective and MADE’s Barbican collection give the week a strong museum-led draw on their own. Soho’s debut and Shoreditch Design Week’s expanded format also make this an edition worth tracking for anyone following how the Festival’s district model evolves. \nQuick Facts for London Design Festival 2026\nLondon Design Festival\, London\, September 12-20\, 2026\nFor professionals and general public\nSize: 11 Design Districts\, 350\,000+ visitors\nHub: V&A South Kensington\nOther venues: Barbican\, Somerset House\, the Strand\, Wapping\nIn general\, free admission\, some events require paid tickets \n\nCheck the complete guide & calendar for opening hours \nVisit londondesignfestival.com for info \nRelated events: Shoreditch Design Week\, Material Matters\, Global Design Forum

SUMMARY:Lake Como Design Festival 2026: Border Becomes a Meeting Point
DESCRIPTION:Lake Como Design Festival returns for its eighth edition from 12 to 20 September 2026\, and this year it steps outside its usual footprint. Alongside the familiar exhibitions and installations around Como and its lake\, the festival moves for the first time into a set of new venues in Lecco. The theme\, Border\, runs through every part of the programme\, and the organisers treat it less as a dividing line and more as a place where things meet: relationships form\, tensions surface\, and ideas change shape. \nThat idea shows up in a concrete way. By reaching into Lecco\, the festival pushes past the boundary it has kept to since it started. It also launches a new strand of exhibitions built with the region’s higher education institutions: the University of Insubria\, the Como Conservatory\, the Aldo Galli Academy of Como/IED\, and the Politecnico di Milano’s Lecco campus. The goal is to pull younger audiences into design\, architecture\, and art through work they can actually engage with\, and to turn the festival into a place where long-term collaborations can start\, not just a one-off cultural event. \nDiscover Lake Como Design Festival 2025  \n \nVilla del Grumello: Future in the Past\nVilla del Grumello and its park open to the public again\, this time hosting Future in the Past\, an exhibition that looks at how memory feeds design. Rather than treating archives as storage for old material\, the show presents them as active spaces that can still produce something new. \nThe line-up brings together several distinct voices. Artist Lupo Borgonovo shows Disegno Nomade\, large drawings based on buckles once used by nomadic peoples across Eurasia. Designer Nicolò Spinelli teams up with Simonetto\, the Meda woodworking atelier\, on an architectural intervention by Elisa Ossino built from gradient eucalyptus wood panelling. Etel comes back to the festival with a show on Lina Bo Bardi‘s furniture work in Brazil\, including her Carrinho de Chá and Cadeira de Balanço. Annarita Aversa of Architetti Artigiani Anonimi presents Proporzione Mediterranea\, curated by Giustini Stagetti Gallery and rooted in the vaulted houses of the Amalfi Coast. \n \nLake Como Design Festival\nComo & Lecco\, September 12-20\, 2026 \nSeven editions so far\nFor professional and general public\nSize: 20+ site-specific locations\, 650+ designers and galleries involved 100\,000+ visitors \n \nThe Carla Badiali Archive shows drawings from Badiali’s work with Hubert de Givenchy and Pierre Balmain\, and Eredi Marelli brings a 1948 bar cabinet by Paolo Buffa engraved with motifs drawn from Andrea Appiani’s lost decorative cycle for Milan’s Royal Palace. Francesca Brambilla curates 1in16 – A Border Divided\, a Story Shared\, where each artist works on a single sheet of AnimaGrigia® paper that only takes its final form once it’s divided; the resulting notebooks go on sale during the festival\, with proceeds funding Wonderlake Como’s schools programme for 2026–2027. \nIn the park surrounding the villa\, Nella Natura: Stories of Those Who Chose Another Life opens as an outdoor exhibition. Curated by Paola Manfredi with photographs by Selene Magnolia Gatti\, it follows six people who live on the edge between the city and the wild\, offering a quiet counterpoint to the villa’s archive-focused programme. \nDiscover EDIT Napoli 2025  \n \nVilla Saporiti: Contemporary Design Selection\nFor the first time\, the Contemporary Design Selection moves to Villa Saporiti\, a late-18th-century neoclassical building known for its rare elliptical salon and lakeside facade. Curated for the fourth year running by Giovanna Massoni and directed by festival coordinator Francesca Prandelli\, the show gathers more than fifty independent designers\, studios\, artisans\, and galleries from around thirty countries\, all responding to the Border theme through an open call launched in January. \nMassoni frames the selection as a space where different geographies and practices sit side by side rather than compete\, drawing on ideas from Gilles Clément\, Zygmunt Bauman\, Tomás Maldonado\, and Bruno Latour to describe borders as places of exchange rather than separation. The work on show moves across several interpretations of that idea: pieces built from waste materials or biomaterials sit next to reflections on craft and manufacturing; some designers hybridise materials and media\, others build objects meant to shift function depending on how they’re used. Several projects sit at the edge between authored and participatory design\, between individual and collective practice\, and between human and non-human ways of making. \nVilla Saporiti\, new location for 2026 \n  \nNomade: Fine Comune\nInside the former Church of Santa Caterina\, Nomade presents Fine Comune\, developed with Ultrapresent Studio. The show plays on the Latin root of the word border\, con-finis\, which points to a shared edge rather than a wall. Concrete and metal sculptures by Luca Monterastelli sit in the side aisle\, while the main space\, laid out with a soft floor and central seating\, brings together Acerbis’s Free System modular seating\, collectible pieces from Movimento Gallery\, and handcrafted rugs by cc-tapis. \nAlberto Granata: Border People\nAt the Chiostro di Sant’Abbondio\, photographer Alberto Granata shows sculpture photography under the title Gente di Confine\, curated by Eugenio Bitetti. His images sit deliberately between the material and the metaphysical\, giving stone figures a sense of life that pulls them out of pure history. \nIco Parisi Design Archive\nThe Archivio Design Ico Parisi marks its return with Ico Parisi e Giuliano Collina: Arte Condivisa\, tracing the collaboration between the two artists from the 1970s through to 1995\, when La Ruota\, the gallery founded by Ico and Luisa Parisi\, closed. The show includes ceramic pieces the pair made together in 1971 and material connected to Operazione Arcevia\, the alternative community housing project first shown at the Venice Biennale in 1976\, now marking its fiftieth anniversary. \n \nComo Conservatory: Atto Puro\nUltrapresent Studio curates Atto Puro at the Como Conservatory\, built around Cosmos\, the audio system it designed in 2025 to revive a late-1970s composition by Giusto Pio\, originally produced by Franco Battiato. Students from the Conservatory’s electronic music programme work through the space daily\, and visitors are invited to sit in on a live\, evolving listening session. \nAldo Galli Academy: After Evidence\nAfter Evidence\, the third issue of IED’s Notes on Plural Intelligences\, comes out of research into an archive of forensic images. It grew from a collaboration between IED and LABANOF-MUSA\, the University of Milan’s forensic anthropology lab\, which holds a collection of around 20\,000 skeletons spanning nearly 2\,000 years. The show doesn’t try to turn this material into a straightforward story. Instead it sits with fragments\, sound\, and image to ask how something built to establish fact can also become a space for memory and attention. \n \nLecco: three new venues\nThe festival’s move into Lecco brings three projects. Oltre al Vedere\, curated by Francesca Brambilla and developed by Cultura Meccanica at the Politecnico di Milano’s Department of Mechanical Engineering\, builds audio-tactile devices that let blind and partially sighted visitors experience design and art through touch and sound — this year’s centrepiece is a sensory version of Vico Magistretti’s Eclisse lamp. \nAt the Politecnico’s Lecco campus\, Unstable Borders comes out of the AMALPI MORE research project on landslides and Alpine landscape change\, using models and data to make the slow movement of mountains perceptible. Alongside it\, Alpine Landscapes: Traces of Stone\, Community Bonds Between Italy and Switzerland presents the PAESALP project\, which looks at traditional stone construction and craft across the Italy–Switzerland border region. A third Lecco show\, Eterno Femminino\, curated by Francesca Brambilla\, Filippo Invernizzi\, and Fabio Martini\, uses Paleolithic and Neolithic Venus figurines alongside work by contemporary artists to trace how images of femininity have shifted between archetype and stereotype over time. \nStudio Visits and Rationalist Como\nAs in past editions\, the festival runs its Studio Visit programme\, opening design studios\, galleries\, ateliers\, and archives across the region to the public\, alongside a guided tour of Como’s Rationalist architecture. \nWhy visit \nThis year’s edition steps outside Como for the first time\, taking the festival’s design and archive exhibitions into Lecco. With over fifty international designers on show alongside historic archives from Ico Parisi\, Lina Bo Bardi and Carla Badiali\, it’s a rare chance to see contemporary design sit side by side with the region’s design heritage. \nPractical note\nThe festival is genuinely worth the trip\, but accessibility varies a lot by venue. The exhibitions in central Como are easy to reach on foot\, no issues there. Villa del Grumello\, the Serre\, and the Chilometro della Conoscenza involve uneven paths\, stairs\, or distances that can be tough if you have any mobility limitations\, so it’s worth planning ahead if that applies to you. We don’t yet have details on accessibility in Lecco\, since this is its first year as part of the festival. \nLake Como Design Festival\nComo & Lecco\, September 12-20\, 2026 \nSeven editions so far\nFor professional and general public\nSize: 20+ site-specific locations\, 650+ designers and galleries involved 100\,000+ visitors

SUMMARY:Shoreditch Design Week: dates of the first edition
DESCRIPTION:Shoreditch Design Week (SDW)\, a major new annual event taking place as an official part of the London Design Festival (LDF)\, returns from 15 to 20 September 2026. Evolving from the highly successful Shoreditch Design Triangle\, which ran for 18 years\, Shoreditch Design Week will be the largest event of the London Design Festival 2026. This transformation establishes the neighborhood as the most dynamic district within the festival\, dedicated to connecting architects\, interior designers\, specifiers\, developers\, brands\, and design enthusiasts. \nQuick Facts for Shoreditch Design Week 2026\nShoreditch\, East London\, September 15-20\, 2026\nFor professionals and general public\nSize: 60+galleries\, showrooms and brands\, 10\,000+ visitors (Shoreditch Design Triangle data\, 2025) \nThe four main venues/core exhibitions Material Matters\, House of Icon\, Design at Work\, and Kachette on Old Street\, run 15-17 September \nNeuroplaces first edition\, at Protein Studios\, runs 15-17 September \nVisit Shoreditchdesignweek.com for info \nDiscover London Design Festival 2026 \nMaterial Matters at Unlocked \nThe extensive\, district-wide festival will unite over 60 partners. Among them\, showrooms\, independent studios\, galleries\, and pop-up creative spaces host hundreds of events\, product launches\, installations\, talks\, and networking opportunities. At the core of this ambitious programme is a curated network of four major exhibition venues. \nA Strengthened Exhibition Line-up\nAt the center of Shoreditch Design Week is a powerful\, curated exhibition offering that spans workplace\, hospitality\, retail\, and residential design\, bringing together global brands\, material innovation\, and emerging talent across four key venues.  \n\nMaterial Matters at Unlocked: The exhibition dedicated to materials and materiality is relocating to Shoreditch Design Week\, taking over the industrial event space UNLOCKED Shoreditch from 15-17 September. As the London Design Festival’s only other trade-focused fair\, this move significantly reinforces the district’s status as a prime destination for innovation.\n\nHouse of ICON at Shoreditch Town Hall: Returning after a highly successful launch last year\, this venue reinforces the area as a hub for contemporary design\, commercial interiors\, and cultural programming. It will feature Isola Design as a key special project.\n\nDiscover Material Matters Copenhagen 2026 \n \n\nDesign at Work at Protein Studios: Also returning after its successful debut last year\, this venue serves as a focal point for contemporary product design and workplace solutions. It also hosts the inaugural Neuroplaces exhibition.\n\nDesign at Work \n\nKachette on Old Street: This venue is dedicated to spotlighting contemporary product design and next-generation talent. The railway arches will house New Designers Selects\, highlighting the future of British design; the annex will host Design Burger for the launch of The Product Design 100\, celebrating influential international industrial design.\n\nKachette on Old Street \nBeyond these primary venues\, Shoreditch Design Week is collaborating with a diverse network of designers and studios to deliver special projects and experimental installations throughout the entire district. \nThe first edition of Neuroplaces\nThis inaugural edition also marks the debut of Neuroplaces\, the UK very first B2B exhibition and conference dedicated to neuroinclusive and accessible design solutions for workplaces and public spaces. Neuroplaces will co-locate with Design at Work by OnOffice at Protein Studios\, Shoreditch\, from 15-17 September 2026. This collaboration brings the first commercial marketplace for universal design principles directly into the heart of the London Design Festival’s largest trade hub\, maximizing reach and visibility for all involved. \nProgramme Structure and Future Vision\nThe festival lasts six days\, to maximize both business and community engagement. The first half of the week\, from September 15 to 17\, will feature a strict commercial and trade focus\, optimized for industry decision-makers looking to connect directly with brands. SUMMARY:Material Matters at Shoreditch Design Week 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Material Matters design fair was founded in September 2022 bt Grant Gibson and William Knight\, and launched as an official fixture of the London Design Festival. \nThe first edition took place at Bargehouse at Oxo Tower Wharf. This raw\, industrial\, four-story former factory on London’s South Bank provided the perfect atmospheric backdrop. Its gritty\, unrefined architecture contrasted beautifully with the cutting-edge design on display.\n \nEvent Details \n\nEvent: Material Matters London\nDates: 15-17 September 2026\n\nExhibitors: over 50 brands\nVisitors: over 6\,000\n\nDiscover Shoreditch Design Week 2026 \nMaterial Matters 2023 \n \n2022–2025: The Bargehouse Era and Curation Focus\nOver its first few years\, the fair rapidly grew from a bold experiment into one of the most anticipated and heavily attended events of the festival. Its success was anchored by a distinct editorial approach to curation\, focusing on three core pillars: \n\nMaterial Innovation: Showcasing experimental biomaterials (such as mycelium\, algae\, and agricultural waste composites) alongside advanced manufacturing and 3D printing techniques.\nThe Circular Economy: Providing a platform for brands and designers dedicated to waste reduction\, recycling\, and sustainable lifecycle design.\nThe Talks Programme: A live extension of the podcast\, bringing together leading global voices in architecture and design to debate the future of resources.\n\nMaterial Matters 2023 \nThe New Eastern Chapter: Moving to Shoreditch\nFor its upcoming edition\, the event is relocating eastward from its prior central London locations to Shoreditch\, a district with deep historical roots in the city’s creative sectors. By integrating into Shoreditch Design Week\, Material Matters will sit within a larger network of exhibitions\, presentations\, and installations hosted throughout the neighborhood during the festival. \nThe Venue: UNLOCKED Shoreditch\nThe exhibition will be staged at UNLOCKED Shoreditch\, a multi-story cultural hub located on Curtain Road. This converted warehouse provides approximately 24\,000 sq ft of adaptable space\, perfectly tailored for hosting exhibitions\, pop-up showcases\, and major creative gatherings. \nMaterial Matters at Unlocked \nCore Elements Remain Intact\nDespite the change of scenery\, the core components of the event stand unchanged. Material Matters London continues to assemble a handpicked blend of international brands\, up-and-coming designers\, and material innovators. Past editions have put the spotlight on everything from biomaterials and recycled composites to cutting-edge manufacturing methods\, complemented by a lecture series featuring prominent figures from the fields of architecture and design. \nShoreditch’s Creative Heritage\nRelocating the fair to Shoreditch also mirrors the district’s modern-day prominence within London’s design landscape. Historically celebrated as a hub for furniture manufacturing\, the area now serves as a home for galleries\, creative studios\, and design gatherings that spotlight the city’s continuously changing creative culture. \nEvent Details \n\nEvent: Material Matters London\nDates: 15-17 September 2026\n\nExhibitors: over 50 brands\nVisitors: over 6\,000
