SUMMARY:Auckland Design Week 2025
DESCRIPTION:Auckland Design Week\, now in its second edition\, is an exciting annual event celebrating the vibrant design scene in Tāmaki Makaurau (Maori name for Auckland). Founded by Jen Jones\, it provides a collaborative platform where creative thinkers\, design practitioners\, showrooms\, and retailers come together to explore and celebrate design in all its forms and its influence on the way we live. The 2025 edition is March 3-9.  \nDiscover Perth Design Week  \nAuckland Design Week 2024 \nAuckland Design Week 2025: a vibrant design scene \nIn 2025\, Auckland Design Week explores the transformative impact of emerging technologies across design disciplines\, challenging attendees to move beyond apprehension and embrace innovation. With AI\, VR\, AR\, robotics\, 3D printing\, and prefabrication revolutionizing industries\, this theme examines how designers can integrate technological advancements while preserving traditional craftsmanship. \nWe invite designers from all fields to consider how these tools can enhance their work. Through collaboration\, discussions\, and installations\, participants will interrogate ethical implications\, push creative boundaries\, and explore the potential of technology within their design practices. \n \nThe leading theme: Chance + Change\nChance + Change fosters a mindset of curiosity—encouraging thoughtful adaptation to new developments while respecting the core principles of design. This theme reframes technology not as a threat but as a powerful ally in the creative process\, inspiring designers to forge innovative pathways without losing sight of artistry and intent. \nLet’s approach this with open minds. Let’s question\, engage with experts and future generations\, explore new possibilities\, challenge conventions\, and draw inspiration from other industries. \nChance + Change delves into the transformative potential and ethical considerations of emerging technologies within multidisciplinary design. From AI and VR to prefabrication\, 3D printing\, and software-generated design\, this event challenges traditional paradigms and sparks conversations on balancing innovation with craftsmanship. Designers across UX\, graphic and animation\, product and industrial design\, architecture and interiors\, the arts\, and fashion are invited to reflect on how these tools can elevate their work while addressing ethical concerns. \nDiscover the Design Biennale Rotterdam \n \nThrough installations and collaborations\, Chance + Change highlights the intersection of tradition and technology. Attendees will engage with cutting-edge projects that demonstrate how these tools enhance productivity and creativity without compromising craft. By embracing innovation\, we open new avenues for design excellence\, fostering a dialogue on responsible technological integration in creative practices. This theme underscores the importance of adapting to change while staying true to design fundamentals\, positioning technology as an invaluable partner in achieving artistic and functional brilliance. \nThe Design Conference\nTaking place at 25 Normanby Road in Mt Eden\, the Design Conference at Auckland Design Week 2025 will delve into the impact of emerging technologies across design disciplines. The Design Conference requests to pay and entry ticket. Attendees will be encouraged to move beyond fear and embrace innovation\, exploring how technological advancements can be balanced with traditional craftsmanship through our Chance + Change theme. \nKarim Rashid: the future of design\nPresented by Lexus\, The Future of Design features renowned designer Karim Rashid\, who explores how our material world must evolve in response to the rapid digital transformation. Humanity has lived in an analog world for over 100\,000 years\, yet we are only 30 years into the digital era. Rashid asks: How will design bridge this gap between the material and immaterial\, and how will it reshape social behavior? \nDiscover the World Design Congress 2025\, in London \nKarim Rashid (photo from karimrashid.com website) \nAs consumers increasingly seek inspiration from both physical and digital environments\, Rashid emphasizes the need for future design to create seamless\, engaging experiences across disciplines—blurring the lines between design\, art\, architecture\, and fashion. This fusion will shape a future where technology and creativity coexist to enrich everyday life. \nHowever\, Rashid stresses that great design must remain grounded in human needs\, emphasizing innovation\, individuality\, and meaningful differentiation. It’s not enough to simply adopt technology; designers must craft products\, spaces\, and experiences that truly inspire. His lecture challenges attendees to imagine a future where the boundaries between material and digital dissolve\, fostering a more connected and fulfilling experience. This is the future of design: a world where creativity\, technology\, and human essence merge seamlessly to elevate our collective experience. \nDesign Days \nThere’s a paid admission to the Design Days\, at the Design Depot in Mt Eden\, Auckland\, on Friday\, March 7\, and Saturday\, March 8. \nThe ticket includes the access to a collaborative\, interactive exhibition space showcasing innovative designs and installations. Also in the ticket is included a selection of delicious food and beverages from Flight Coffee & Daily Bread. \nThe two days offer over 15 keynote and panel discussions featuring thought leaders and engaging topics for design professionals and enthusiasts alike. SUMMARY:Gorizia Design Week 2025
DESCRIPTION:Gorizia\, European Capital of Culture 2025\, hosts Gorizia Design Week (7-16 March 2025)\, as one of the first events to kick off the cultural program. Its goal is to raise awareness and appreciation of two cities united by a border – Nova Gorica and Gorizia. \nThe chosen theme\, FIBER ART & TEXTILE DESIGN\, highlights the symbolic power of fabric and weaving. Threads represent connection\, unity between people\, and the stitching together of urban areas. This theme reflects the deep bond between the two border cities. \nThe exhibition spreads across both cities. Venues include Go! Center\, Auditorium della Cultura Friulana\, Galleria Agorè\, The Good Store\, and Carinarnica. It presents design objects selected through an open call for designers under 40. Alongside them\, works from young contemporary artists from the IoDeposito ETS creative hub will also be on display. \nDiscover Auckland Design Week 2025 \nOloop Connections \nDesign weaves the scenary \nThe selected works offer a snapshot of today’s design scene. They reflect global trends within the local context. Key trends include: \n•Participatory design\, where creating objects becomes a tool for social connection and personal growth. The carpet-in-progress Connections by Slovenian group Oloop Design offers a perfect example. \n•Conscious design\, which focuses on responsible use of resources\, from material sourcing to product disposal\, while promoting care and longevity. \n•Design and craftsmanship\, which values manual skills and personal engagement. \nThe exhibition also showcases iconic design objects inspired by textiles. Highlights include the Falkland lamp by Bruno Munari\, the Tuta coat hanger by Nendo\, and the Crinoline armchair by Patricia Urquiola. \nDiscover Clerkenwell Design Week  \nCuscino Pizzolongo \nGorizia Design Week: textile art to explore contemporary issues\nThe artists contribute works using fibre art to explore contemporary issues. Themes range from African renaissances to local textile heritage\, and from critiques of consumerism to reflections on care and repair. ‘Red threads’ weave through the exhibition\, symbolizing connections across time and space\, linking visitors to universal stories. \nThe event aims to highlight innovative uses and trends in fibre art. It promotes a culture that crosses national borders — and blurs the lines between art and design. \nKnotted coat rack by Urska Sadar \nA special collaboration with ISIS Galilei Fermi Pacassi of Gorizia created the exhibition graphics. ISIS Fermo Solari of Tolmezzo designed and produced the exhibition supports for the design section. The University of the Third Age (UTE) Paolo Naliato of Udine\, together with Noi dell’Arte\, involved senior citizens in an intergenerational creative project\, exhibited at the Auditorium of Friulian Culture. \nGorizia Design Week is organised by the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Museum of Design. It is supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the Municipality of Gorizia. The event also has the patronage of the Association of Italian Professional Interior Designers (AIPI) and Confapi FVG\, with contributions from many partners\, including Cumini Interior\, Riccardo Rivoli Furniture Design Atelier\, Modonutti\, Fausped\, and Pevere. \nGorizia Design Week\, March\, 7-16\, 2025\nFor professionals and general public\nSize: 100 events\nVisit Go2025.eu website for more info \nSome images from Gorizia Design Week 2025

SUMMARY:World Design Summit 2025: Crossing borders with design
DESCRIPTION:China International Furniture Fair 2025 hosts the World Design Summit for the first time.  Following the success of the Asia Pacific Design Summit at CIFF 2024\, the highly anticipated event returns in 2025 with a new identity and an expanded vision. Now rebranded as the World Design Summit\, this year’s edition aims to be more ambitious than ever\, fostering global collaboration in the design industry. \nAs always\, the China International Furniture Fair (CIFF) will take place in two phases. The first phase\, from March 18-21\, will showcase home furniture\, textiles\, and accessories\, while the second phase\, from March 28-31\, will focus on office and commercial furniture. \nDiscover CIFF 2025 \n \nA key highlight of CIFF 2025 will be the 55th edition of CIFF Guangzhou\, which will host the World Design Summit on March 20\, 2025\, under the theme “Design Businesses Crossing Borders.” \nWe spoke with Tung Ching Yew\, Curator of the World Design Summit\, Founder and Managing Director of SODA (Spirit of Design Analogy Pte Ltd)\, and President of the Society of Interior Designers Singapore\, to learn more about the summit’s evolution and his expectations for this year’s event. \nClick here to register at CIFF 2025 \nTung Ching Yew\, the World Design Summit Curator \nThe origins of the World Design Summit\nHow did the World Design Summit begin? \nThe summit was first introduced in 2024 at CIFF Guangzhou under the name “Asia Pacific Design Summit.” Since then\, it has been rebranded as the World Design Summit to reflect a growing international presence\, attracting participants beyond the Asia-Pacific region.\nIn 2025\, the summit will welcome esteemed organizations such as the Association of Interior Designers from Italy and prominent business networks\, including the Abu Dhabi Business Chambers. With this expansion\, the focus has shifted from a regional to a truly global perspective. “At its core\, design is universal – whether in architecture or interior design\, it connects people beyond borders. It is a common language that transcends geography and disciplines\,” says Tung Ching Yew. \nRead more about CIFF history \nA holistic approach to design\nDoes the summit focus more on interior design\, product design\, or the design process as a whole? \n“My primary expertise is in spatial and interior design\, but I strongly believe that design is inherently interdisciplinary\,” Tung explains.\nHis own practice embraces a collaborative approach\, working with artists\, textile designers\, landscape architects\, and lighting designers to create unique and innovative projects.\n“This cross-disciplinary approach is essential—while interior designers are specialists in their field\, the best results come from understanding that design is a collaborative process. By working across disciplines\, we can push boundaries and achieve innovation that wouldn’t be possible in isolation.” \nClick here to register at CIFF 2025 \n \nThe collaboration between CIFF and the World Design Summit\nHow did the partnership with CIFF come about? \n“CIFF has a well-established audience and reputation in the furniture and design industry\, so we reached out to them last year. They generously provided the venue and all necessary stage equipment for a one-day summit\,” Tung explains. Hosting the summit at CIFF allowed organizers to engage an extensive network of professionals\, facilitating meaningful discussions within an already established industry platform. \nWhat does the future hold for the summit? \nIn 2024\, the Asia Pacific Design Summit hosted 10 design associations. This year\, as the World Design Summit\, participation has expanded to 14 associations\, reflecting growing global interest. Looking forward\, Tung hopes to broaden participation even further\, bringing together interior designers\, architects\, product designers\, and even fashion designers under one platform. “The summit is evolving. While we currently host it annually at CIFF\, we are open to the idea of rotating locations or adjusting the format based on demand. For now\, the focus remains on fostering a space for collaboration\, knowledge-sharing\, and inspiration across disciplines.” \nClick here to register at CIFF 2025 \n \nThe global impact of CIFF World Design Summit 2025\nThe World Design Summit at CIFF 2025 will feature the most influential interior design associations worldwide\, with confirmed participation from: \n\nItaly\nUAE\nSaudi Arabia\nNew Zealand\nSingapore\nMalaysia\nVietnam\nPhilippines\nTaiwan (China)\nThailand\nIndonesia\nJapan\n\nUnder the theme “Design Businesses Crossing Borders\,” the summit will examine how design businesses are expanding globally and navigating opportunities and challenges in the international market. In an increasingly interconnected world\, demand for innovative design solutions is growing beyond local markets. The summit aims to equip designers with strategies to succeed on a global scale by discussing: \n\nIdentifying and seizing opportunities in overseas markets\nUnderstanding cultural nuances and regional design preferences\nAdapting design solutions to diverse international clientele\nSecuring global projects and building strong international networks\nMastering global business etiquette\n\nThrough engaging panel discussions\, real-world case studies\, and expert insights\, participants will gain practical knowledge on expanding their design businesses internationally. Additionally\, the event will explore the role of technology and digital platforms in connecting global design communities\, enabling cross-border collaboration and expanding market reach. By fostering innovation and adaptability\, the CIFF World Design Summit 2025 aims to empower designers and businesses to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth\, shaping the future of design in an interconnected world. \nWorld Design Summit 2025 – March 20\, 2025  \n

SUMMARY:Casa Decor Madrid 2025
DESCRIPTION:In 2025\, Casa Decor\, the architecture and interior design exhibition held every spring in Madrid\, celebrates its 33rd anniversary and its 60th edition. The first edition was held in 1992\, in a historic and unique building—the first of many to come. Since then\, Casa Decor has gathered a collection of historic and distinctive buildings\, including palaces\, mansions\, banks\, embassies\, stately homes\, industrial buildings\, and even a convent. \nDiscover Madrid Design Festival \nThe project by Francesc Rifé at Casa Decor Madrid 2025 \nFor its 60th edition\, the event has chosen a true “Casa Decor building.” What does a “Casa Decor building” look like? It is a stately 19th-century palace with spacious interiors\, high ceilings\, lots of natural light\, and period details—in short\, a residential building from another era. In doing so\, Casa Decor stays true to its original mission: to discover\, restore\, showcase\, and open to the public the rich architectural heritage. \nCasa Decor Madrid 2025\, project Leroy Merlin by Estudio Querencia \nFor the 2025 edition\, Casa Decor returns to Chamberí\, a neighborhood with a strong historical connection to the event\, where seven editions have previously taken place. The building hosting the 2025 projects covers an area of 7\,141 square meters\, spread over the ground floor\, basement\, and four upper floors. It occupies an entire block on Calle Sagasta\, stretching from Plaza de Alonso Martínez to Calle Covarrubias. Although composed of two separate buildings\, they were designed as a single architectural and aesthetic unit. \nCasa Decor Madrid: a live magazine \nThe event lasts six weeks and features around fifty spaces\, decorated by both well-established professionals and young\, promising interior designers. Each edition brings together more than 200 exhibitors\, with 50 projects created by both professionals and companies\, all aiming to promote their work\, products\, or services through this comprehensive platform. It is a large collaborative initiative that supports and raises awareness for the interior design sector\, as well as consumer\, luxury\, and lifestyle brands. \nArquitalia – Borja Esteras for Aritco \nSince 1992\, more than 2\,000 professionals have participated in Casa Decor\, ranging from recognized names to emerging talents. SUMMARY:Milan Design Week
DESCRIPTION:The Milan Design Week: a design event\nThe Milan Fuorisalone\, or Milan Design Week\, as a whole\, is a gigantic design project\, which in 40 years redesigned Milan. Design has arrived\, in the form of creative and resourceful entrepreneurs\, intelligent real estate developers\, designers and architects\, and has regenerated territories\, giving them a new life. \nDiscover the Milan Design Week 2025 Essentials \nThe gala dinner by Salone del Mobile.Milano at La Scala Theater \nThis could only happen in Milan\, a city with a vocation for research in industrial design. In fact\, Milan is surrounded by Brianza\, “the region with the highest creativity rate in the world\,” industrial know-how. This could probably happen only in Italy\, thanks to the “Italian factor.” The Fuorisalone is indeed the sum of many local factors\, and territorial factors are inherently local.  \nDiscover Salone del Mobile Milano 2024 \n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n\nA choral and spontaneous event\nAnother fundamental characteristic of this big design event is that it is a grass-rooted event\, created by the initiative of many people. The people who organized the events\, the protagonists of the various events\, the audience who attended them. There are some questions that are difficult to answer. One of the most recurring is\, “Who invented the Milan Design Week?” Everyone and no one. Actually\, it was quite amusing to discover that there are at least a hundred inventors of the Fuorisalone. It is true that some of the protagonists of the first phase of the Fuorisalone played a particularly significant role\, but\, since it is not a codified event\, with a beginning or an end\, there are not people who invented it. There are many people who created the conditions for what happened to occur over the course of several years.   \nDiscover the Bangkok Design Week 2025 \nThe Milan Design Week 1989: exhibition at Lido\, a public swimming pool facility \nThe Fuorisalone: connections and networking\nIf we wanted to describe the event in a few words\, we could say that over time it has turned into a formidable communication format and that for years it was the main tool for networking. A scientific form of party\, designed with the utmost care: design expressed itself as a place for relationships between people\, where the convivial moment was a key component of the event\, just like the exhibition and the installations. \nLearn more about Milan Design Week\, buy the book History of Milan Design Week \n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n\nApril in Milan: Salone del Mobile.Milano and Fuorisalone\nIt should not be forgotten that the Fuorisalone would have never existed without the Salone del Mobile. The trade fair\, in the pavilions of Fieramilano — currently in Rho and\, until 2005\, at the old Fiera Campionaria premises — is the lifeblood that has always sustained the Fuorisalone\, which\, not by chance\, for many years was not an independent event\, but a series of “side events to the Salone del Mobile.” And the fact that since the mid-seventies the city of Milan has been attracting a cultured public interested in design is due to the Salone del Mobile and its ability to highlight the design culture element characterizing the industrial production of Italian furniture\, already so well-known in the world as to be the subject of an exhibition at MoMA\, in New York\, in 1972\, “Italy: the new domestic landscape\,” curated by Emilio Ambasz. \nThis is also the reason why the main subject of the events has always been furniture and why design has been identified with furniture for a long time. It is only in the last 20 years that a definition of Milan Design Week with events not related to the furniture sector began to emerge\, and in recent times there have been increasingly insistent questions about the future evolution of the Fuorisalone.  \nDiscover the Milan Design Events 2025 Essentials \n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n\nThe future \n2020 has doubtlessly been another important stage in the history of this week of global resonance and there are several unknown elements in its future.  \nSalone del Mobile.Milano is back\, and with it\, Milan Design Week. Many things have already changed\, but one thing is still clear: that people still want to meet in person. Therefore\, Milan Design Week is still alive and vital\, even if undergoing a profound transformation. \nIn the galleries\, images and photos from the different editions of Milano Design Week\, divided by years and editions. \nWhy visit \nOne can visit Milan Design Week for many reasons. SUMMARY:The Chiavari chair: made in Italy in Tigullio Design District
DESCRIPTION:The Chiavari chair is one of the most famous chairs in the world. However\, not everyone knows that it is\, in fact\, one of the oldest made-in-Italy design products in the world. In fact\, its origins date back to 1807\, thanks to a carpenter in Chiavari\, Liguria. Chiavari’s chair was a huge success until the arrival of Thonet in the mid-19th century. It is precisely to the Chiavari chair that is dedicated one of the main exhibitions of Tigullio Design District\, “Design ante litteram: The Light Chair of Chiavari from the 19th Century to Today”.  \nDiscover Milan Design Week  \nScreenshot \nChiavari and Tigullio: Tigullio Design District\nTigullio Design District is the first international design event in Liguria\, in the Gulf of Tigullio (Portofino area)\, and returns April 7-13\, 2025. Thanks to the massive number of visitors\, the Salone del Mobile.Milano has become the most significant event in the city of Milan. In the week of the fair\, in fact\, the city comes alive with a thousand or so side events\, brought together in a circuit that goes by the name of Fuorisalone. Salone and Fuorisalone together shape Milano Design Week\, an event that attracts about 500\,000 people worldwide to Milan each year. \nDiscover the preview of Milan Design Week 2025 \nA global event\nUnder the Salone del Mobile.Milano umbrella\, more than 2\,300 of the world’s most dynamic and creative companies present themselves every year at the Rho Fiera Milano exhibition center\, on a total net area of almost 210\,000 square meters. \nOver 300\,000 trade visitors\, almost 70% from 188 countries\, visit the fair annually. For this reason\, it distributes its green guidelines to all exhibiting companies to support them as much as possible in designing\, planning\, and implementing their trade fair activities. Green guidelines also provide an increasingly effective answer to how to set up exhibition spaces with full respect to the environment so that a major trade fair event such as the Salone becomes increasingly sustainable. \nThe aim is to encourage all exhibitors and provide them with concrete indications to support the innovative and eco-friendly design of temporary booths. From Salone’s point of view\, this means prioritizing the well-being of all stakeholders and achieving a positive balance between the social\, economic\, and environmental aspects. \nDiscover the best booths at Milan Salone del Mobile 2024 \nWhy visit\nThe Salone del Mobile.Milano is for professionals only\, is open to the general public only on Saturday and Sunday\, and to students on Friday\, Saturday and Sunday.\nInterior designers\, architects\, and information and communication professionals visit the Salone for several reasons. SUMMARY:Munich Creative Business Week 2025: how to design a vibrant community
DESCRIPTION:Organized by bayern design\, Munich Creative Business Week (MCBW) is Germany’s largest design event and a key international platform for Bavaria’s creative and design industries. From May 10 to 18\, 2025\, Munich Creative Business Week returns with the 14th edition\, evolving around the “design community” concept. MCBW once again transforms Munich into a city-wide stage for design innovation and interdisciplinary exchange.  \nDiscover Clerkenwell Design Week  \n \nMunich Creative Business Week 2025: how to design a vibrant community\nThe MCBW 2025 edition evolves around this motto: How to design a vibrant community? How can design help us build stronger\, more connected communities? In a world marked by increasing polarization\, the desire for togetherness has never been greater. This year’s motto invites participants to explore how design can serve as a powerful tool for fostering connection\, empathy\, and collective problem-solving. \nMCBW 2025’s theme is structured around three key focus areas: \nOpening minds: design awakens curiosity\nHow do we shift mindsets and inspire sustainable behavior in a world full of complexity and contradiction? Design drives learning and transformation — from office spaces that foster creativity to apps that reshape daily habits. Through design\, we spark curiosity and catalyze change. \nShaping togetherness: design Enables cooperation\nAs people grow more detached from traditional systems — in mobility\, housing\, and communication — the role of design becomes more vital. Design helps bridge divides\, invite participation\, and foster a sense of shared ownership. It speaks across languages and disciplines\, enabling collaboration and cultural expression. \nInspiring empathy: design elevates the human factor\nTechnology offers great promise\, but also challenges our humanity. Through thoughtful application of design and design thinking\, we can humanize emerging technologies like AI\, making them understandable\, accessible\, and ethical. Design keeps empathy at the core of progress. \nMCBW 2025 also features a rich mix of formats\, talks\, and showcases\, all centered on the power of design to build community. With fresh perspectives from new and returning partners\, the event offers inspiring responses to the question of how we can shape a design community. \nDiscover Design Month Graz 2025 \n \nMCBW Design Summit\nOn May 12\, 2025\, MCBW hosts its flagship event\, the Design Summit\, at Munich Urban Colab. The summit runs all day. Internationally renowned speakers pair up to explore key themes as MCBW Creative Explorers. SUMMARY:Genova Design Week 2025: revitalizing the area
DESCRIPTION:The sixth edition of Genoa Design Week will take place from May 21 to 25\, 2025. Organized by DiDe – Genoa Design District\, the 2025 edition includes the contents that have made it a success in previous years: Container 02\, Outdoor without Borders\, Designer Under 35\, Design Talk Festival\, as well as the novelty Best Italian Houses. \nStarted in 2018 to revitalize an area of Genoa’s historic center\, the event has gradually expanded to the entire city. In recent years it has fostered the reopening of about 20 new businesses in the historic area involved. This demonstrates how well-structured design events can give a concrete contribution to urban regeneration. \nDiscover the Tigullio Design District \nPiazza dei Giustiniani\, Genova Design Week 2024 \nGenova Design Week 2025: revitalizing the area\nGenova Design Week was conceived from the beginning to enhance a valuable but little-visited part of the historic center. The idea of creating an event around design came about spontaneously. The organizers are active in creative fields\, such as art galleries\, architecture and design studios\, and the chosen area was historically home to furniture factories and artisan workshops. The inaugural edition\, dubbed “Edition 0\,” took place in 2018 and quickly yielded positive results. \nGenova Design Week 2024 \nThe 2024 edition counted 166 exhibitors\, 122 events including lectures\, exhibitions\, meetings and musical performances\, spread across 110 locations including historic buildings\, businesses and squares. It hosted about 20\,000 20\,000 visitors\, although without an exact count\, as access is free to maintain a welcoming and informal atmosphere. The success of the event has had tangible repercussions. The district area\, located on the “Left Bank” of Via San Lorenzo\, next to the Cathedral\, has seen more than 20 new businesses spring up since Genoa Design Week began. Today the area is once again a lively neighborhood\, with a strong presence of activities related to art\, design and architecture. A distinctive feature of the event is the participation of residents. Private buildings open to the public\, turning into temporary exhibition spaces and contributing to the fusion of historic architecture and contemporary design. \nFocus on young designers\nYoung talents attract a special attention\, thanks to the Under 35 project. In fact\, they can showcase their designs in some smaller spaces\, such as atriums of little-known buildings\, free of charge.\nOver the years\, the Under 35 project has become more structured. A scientific committee selects applications\, seeking to exhibit all works compatible with the theme. Ten projects from those selected will also be presented in an exhibition at the ADI Design Museum in Milan\, by next November. \nDiscover the Munich Creative Business Week  \nElia Maschio\, winner of Under 35 in 2024 \nThe 2025 edition expect about 30 projects\, coming from about 20 locations in Italy. Some groups\, such as the Rimini designers\, will share a common space\, while others will showcase their designs in smaller venues. This year\, the majority of participants are already active professionals\, sometimes with small businesses – a fact that confirms the value and attractiveness of the event. \nGenova Design Week beyond the historic center\nSince 2024\, Genova Design Week has expanded its horizons with the Container project\, which takes place in the Porto Vecchio area and reaches its second edition in 2025. Simona Finessi is the curator for 2025 of this project\, started in 2024 from an idea of Mario Dalle Sasse\, founder of the Genoese studio DLA. \nSpazio Giustiniani \nThe project aims to reinterpret the container\, a unique symbol of the city’s port vocation\, as an exhibition space and a place for reflection. The 2025 edition involves exclusively female professionals: twenty-one female architects\, individually or in teams\, designed installations for thirteen containers. Cinzia Anguissola D’Altoè\, a reference figure of the group in terms of experience and professional background\, designed the main installation\, placed in front of the Galata del Mare Museum. \nThe project aims to popularize the culture of design\, bringing design closer to everyday life. It is not about educating about beauty – a concept already rooted in Italian culture – as much as it is about showing how the work of an architect can improve even the simplest spaces. Design is presented as a process affecting living and personal well-being\, transforming homes into more functional\, welcoming and meaningful spaces.\nContainer thus aims to be a bridge between design and real life\, with the intention of making it accessible to everyone\, not just those with big budgets. \nGenova Design Week\, Genoa\, May 21-25\, 2025\nFor professionals and general public\nSize: 122 events\, 160 exhibitors\, 20\,000 visitors\nVarious locations \nVisit Didegenova.it for info

The platform\, launched in early May\, supports both Portuguese and English. It offers tools to explore events\, discover venues\, and connect with featured designers. \nThe new website extends beyond Lisbon Design Week. It will continue to serve as a curated space for design content year-round. ABM Studio\, known for its cultural and artistic digital platforms\, also worked on Les Rencontres d’Arles and Louis Vuitton City Guides. \nEach year\, Lisbon Design Week commissions a young graphic designer to create its official poster. Bernardo Berga is the designer of the 2025 poster: his work combines bold graphic language with urban and digital influences.  \nThe 2025 program\nDuring the five-day event\, attendees can visit 95 venues across the city. Locations include creative studios\, ateliers\, shops\, hotels\, architecture offices\, and private venues. Participants were encouraged to present Portuguese design using local materials. Many collaborated with designers\, craftspeople\, brands\, and artists to build unique showcases. \nLisbon Design Week participants will host a variety of events. SUMMARY:NeoCon Chicago\, the office interior design show
DESCRIPTION:NeoCon is North America’s most important trade show\, dedicated to office interior design. It has taken place annually in June at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart since 1969. The next edition takes place June 9-11\, 2025. \nThe Merchandise Mart in Chicago \nThe post-World War II period was a testament to human resilience and creativity in adversity. In Europe\, architects and designers\, despite the need to rebuild from rubble and scarce finances\, invented innovative solutions that have left an indelible mark in history. Even in the United States\, where reconstruction was not a necessity\, the level of creative production in contract interior design in the mid-century was nothing short of astounding. Florence Knoll\, a pioneer in her own right\, brought together renowned designers and architects to create furniture for Knoll\, while leading the way in office design. George Nelson and Robert Propst\, with their visionary thinking\, conceived Herman Miller’s Action Office. \nDiscover IDS – Interior Design Show in Toronto  \nIn this sparkling mood\, the first International Contract Exposition and Congress took place in 1967 at Chicago’s McCormick Place\, with more than 200 exhibitors in office design and furniture fields. Unfortunately\, a fire destroyed the venue\, and the Merchandise Mart then became the site of the first NeoCon in Chicago. The first NeoCon\, which ran June 22-27\, 1969\, had 750 exhibitors. More than a hundred\, including moderators and speakers\, participated in the seminars and conferences.  \nDiscover Domotex 2024 \nThe NeoCon in Chicago \nA trade show for office and contract interior design\nIn the following decades\, many things happened in North America\, both in office interior design and furniture design. In 1973\, the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA) was established. At the same time\, the American Institute of Decorators (AID) and the National Society of Interior Designers (NSID) came together in 1975\, to establish the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). IBM introduced the first PC in 1981\, and in 1984\, the first Apple Macintosh came out. Computers greatly influenced office interior design\, as computer use required new chairs and desks\, with different postures. Stylistically\, with the first Memphis exhibition in Milan in 1981\, Postmodernism spread from architecture to furniture. Manufacturers turned to well-known postmodern and deconstructivist architects\, such as Robert Venturi\, Frank Gehry\, and Peter Eisenman\, to design objects and furniture. \nDiscover the January Furniture Show \nThe Formica Colorcore\, 1983 \nMade in Italy at NeoCon Chicago\nIn 1982\, NeoCon witnessed its first international exhibition\, Italcenter\, on the eighth floor of the Merchandise Mart. Under the Italian Trade Commission (now ITA or ICE)\, Italcenter showcased the work of ten Italian companies\, in an exhibition design by the renowned Lella and Massimo Vignelli. These ten companies\, Skipper\, Bieffe\, Estel\, Fantoni\, Faram\, Giovannetti\, Skema\, Technolinea\, and Unifor\, represented the global reach of office design and furniture at NeoCon Chicago in 1982. \nDiscover CIFF Guangzhou 2024 \nThe Italcenter\, exhibition design by Lella and Massimo Vignelli\, 1982 \nNeoCon Chicago: 50 years of office interior and contract interior design \nFrom 1990 to the present\, NeoCon has been a platform for numerous events and innovations\, both in products and in display. 1990 marked the inception of the first Best of NeoCon award\, sponsored by Facilities Design and Management magazine. Today\, the prestigious award is sponsored by Contract magazine. In 2002\, Michael Braungart and William McDonough published ‘Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things\,’ a groundbreaking research that set the stage for sustainability in the industry. Since then\, companies have been actively working on process sustainability\, and trade shows like NeoCon have adapted to these changing times. \nToday\, NeoCon is one of the world’s most important trade fairs in the office design and furniture sector. The others are CIFF\, in Guangzhou\, and Orgatec\, which takes place every two years in October in Cologne\, Germany. \nWhy visit\nNeoCon is one of the world’s most influential and historic trade shows for office interior design; in fact\, the first edition took place in 1969. NeoCon is considered one of the leading platforms for launching product innovations; from here come trends in the office and contract sector\, which spread worldwide. Among the primary and already interesting features\, moreover\, NeoCon is a trade fair and exhibition\, where showroom and exhibition have always been of great importance. To name a few\, Arata Isozaki\, Michael Graves\, Robert A.M. Stern and Lella and Massimo Vignelli have designed showrooms at NeoCon. With more than 400 exhibitors\, about 100\,000 square meters\, and 50\,000 visitors\, NeoCon is among the world’s largest office and contract trade shows.\nThe next edition takes place June 10-12\, 2024 \nNeoCon\, Chicago\, June 9-11\, 2025\nFor professionals\, free entry upon registration\nSize: 400 brands\, 50\,000 visitors\nVisit Neocon.com for info

SUMMARY:Design Days
DESCRIPTION:The Swiss Design Days are\, above all\, a festival that celebrates the creative and productive dimensions of design through a pluralistic and transdisciplinary approach. The goal is to give professionals and enthusiasts a platform where industry players can showcase their work. Designers\, publishers\, manufacturers\, artisans\, galleries\, schools\, and foundations come together to share their values with the public in a welcoming and convivial atmosphere. The event offers a rich and diverse program featuring exhibitions\, events\, workshops\, conferences\, and installations. \nDiscover 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen \nStudents from ECAL deisgned the new Homeworks collection for Micasa \nThe Swiss creativity and expertise\nFor several years now\, the event spotlighted Swiss creativity and expertise\, thanks to the strong presence of local designers and manufacturers. As a unique platform\, Design Days have become the leading ambassadors of Swiss design across the French-speaking regions. \nFor 16 years\, the design festival championed a plural and transdisciplinary vision of design. Every year\, the festival brings together emerging talents and seasoned professionals through installations\, exhibitions\, debates\, and conferences held in unusual and unconventional locations – abandoned factories\, old cinemas\, hotels\, and in 2024\, a disused section of a train station. \n2024 Edition\nAfter several itinerant editions\, the event set up base at a new\, central\, and unique venue. The 15th edition unfolded at La Rasude\, an exceptional site located within Lausanne’s train station\, and hosted 63 designers – both emerging and established. The event showcased furniture\, lighting\, robotics\, and new technologies\, along with innovative projects\, prototypes\, and limited or serial editions\, including designs aimed at seniors. The Swiss Fashion Point curated a selection of 21 young talents in fashion\, jewelry\, and accessories. \nThe Design Dinners – immersive gastronomic experiences held on the rails – sold out completely. These dinners enchanted both eyes and palates by blending design and fine cuisine in a memorable\, sensory fusion. \nDiscover Clerkenwell Design Week  \nTeo Jakob studio reception\, among 2025 events \n2023 Edition\nFrom 16 to 25 November\, the 14th edition took participants on an urban journey through Geneva\, linking various neighborhoods and cultural axes. The event brought together around 30 venues and about 50 designers. By weaving together design culture and showcasing the emerging Swiss scene\, Design Days affirmed their status as a key event for promoting the creative force of design to both professionals and the general public. \nWith a spirit of openness and sharing\, the Swiss event aimed to build a strong design community\, raise awareness of design as a creative discipline\, and highlight its economic impact. The program included festive events\, meetings\, conferences\, roundtables\, and seminars\, enriching the experience for all participants. \nSwiss Plus takes part at 2025 edition \n2020 Edition\nDespite the cancellation of several major events\, the 12th edition of the festival adapted to health restrictions and went ahead in a new format. From 5 to 15 November 2020\, boutiques\, showrooms\, and workshops in Lausanne and the surrounding region hosted selected installations by designers. This kaleidoscope of micro-exhibitions supported local businesses\, designers\, artists\, and craftsmen. \nIn small\, safe group settings\, visitors explored contemporary Swiss creations across 24 venues in Lausanne and nearby areas. The only downside: the Signature room at Lausanne Palace and the USM Design Grant X ECAL installation at Flon remained closed to the public. \n2019 Edition\nThe year 2019 featured two editions of Design Days. The spring edition\, held as part of the Habitat-Jardin fair in Lausanne\, focused on interior decor with inspiration spaces and personalized design advice. From 26 to 29 September\, Design Days returned to the Pavillon Sicli in Geneva to highlight both emerging and established design labels. The program included conferences\, exhibitions\, and installations. \nThis 11th edition featured over 50 exhibitors\, 40 young creators\, student projects\, new publishers\, and the best of Swiss design. In partnership with HEAD – Geneva and Swiss Fashion Point\, the event spotlighted the energy and diversity of the national design scene. \nGirsberger takes part at 2025 edition \n2018 Edition\nIn 2018\, the design festival celebrated their 10th anniversary with a special edition. The main platform for design-related meetings and exchanges in French-speaking Switzerland set up at Expo Beaulieu Lausanne\, joining forces with the Habitat-Jardin fair. These two home-focused events combined to offer visitors a richer\, more varied\, qualitative\, and accessible experience. \nThe spotlight shone on Swiss creativity\, with young multi-talented designers\, student projects supported by the USM Foundation through the USM Design Grant\, and highly popular personalized decor consultations. The “Flair” trend debriefs\, high-tech exhibitions\, and innovative product showcases – thanks to the presence of the Swiss Design Prize – added further depth to the program. \nSwiss Design Awards 2018 \n2017 Edition\nThe 9th edition welcomed both professionals and the general public into the warm and inviting space of the Pavillon Sicli in Geneva. This edition served as a vibrant showcase for contemporary and forward-looking design. \nVisitors – over 8\,000 – were captivated by the diversity of creative worlds\, fresh innovations\, and the 100% Swiss design labels presented. The USM Foundation awarded its first-ever CHF 25\,000 USM Design Grant to a HEAD – Geneva student. Under the guidance of Albert Schrurs\, students in an interior architecture workshop imagined the future of workplaces\, homes\, and living environments. \nThe event also renewed its partnership with Swiss Fashion Point and welcomed over 30 fashion exhibitors\, covering clothing\, accessories\, and jewelry. \n2016 Edition\nThe 8th edition in Renens at the former Mayer & Soutter workshops and marked a new milestone. By welcoming German-speaking Swiss companies for the first time\, the French-speaking event took a step toward national recognition\, solidifying its status as a respected platform throughout Switzerland. \nDespite a challenging market\, the edition delivered a rich and diverse offering. Around 70 labels\, showrooms\, publishers\, young designers\, and stylists presented a wide and representative cross-section of the design market. A major highlight: fashion made its debut at the event\, thanks to Swiss Fashion Point and its 25 participating fashion designers specializing in clothing\, accessories\, and jewelry. \nProgram of the 16th Edition\nThe 16th edition take place June 12-15 in Lausanne. DESCRIPTION:White Carrara returns for its ninth edition. From June 13 to September 28\, 2025\, the city celebrates white marble design through a rich program of exhibitions\, installations\, talks\, events\, and tours. Art director Domenico Raimondi curates a vision rooted in contemporary creativity and the legacy of white Carrara. \nThe event transforms the historic center of Carrara into an open-air exhibition. Designers\, architects\, artists\, artisans\, and companies gather here. They experiment\, collaborate\, and bring new perspectives to marble. The city becomes a living laboratory for innovation and tradition. \nDiscover Designmonat Graz \nRidon by RossLovegrove \nWhite Carrara: Design here and now\nThe 2025 theme\, Design Here and Now\, pushes design into the present. It invites designers to work directly with white Carrara marble\, creating original works for this event. Last year\, the focus was on past design objects. This year\, artists create new pieces\, tailored specifically for the exhibition. They reinterpret a centuries-old material with modern tools. Robotics now plays a key role in shaping marble.
