SUMMARY:Paris Design Week 2024
DESCRIPTION:This article covers the 2024 edition. For the following editions\, see Paris Design Week 2025 and Paris Design Week 2026 \nFrom September 5 to 14\, along with Maison&Objet\, Paris Design Week 2024 is back in Paris. Ten days in which the streets of Paris are full of events related to the world of design and the trade show. Established in 2010\, Paris Design Week in 2024 is in its fourteenth edition. Every September\, the city comes alive with many events that attract professionals and the general public to discover trends in design and lifestyle. \nDiscover Maison&Objet September 2024 \nJoséphine Balayn\, Galerie Ellia \nCreated in 2010 by Maison&Objet\, Paris Design Week aims to revitalize the city every September\, raising awareness among the general public and professionals about the latest trends in the world of design\, decoration and the art of living. Paris Design Week is also an opportunity for design lovers to experience Paris in a different light. The temporary installations created by designers\, in fact\, are open and free to all. \nA feature of Paris Design Week\, in September 2024\, is to highlight artisans and designers; the Paris Design Week Factory is a springboard for emerging talent. Schools\, designers and cultural centers\, catalysts of talent\, come together\, to reveal the many expressions of design. Some historical institutions offer their private mansions\, which thus become destinations for alternative walks to discover the secret contemporary design in Paris. \nDiscover more on Maison&Objet  \nRaphaël Kao\, Galerie Joseph Turenne \nParis Design Week September 2024: places to visit\, exhibitions to see\nRive Gauche – in Saint-Germain-des-Prés\, you can stroll through galleries and showrooms to see the most exclusive furniture collections. \nOpéra/Concorde/Étoile – the vibrant rive droite\, with the showrooms and stores of international luxury. \nMarais/Bastille/République – the artistic heart of the capital\, home to young designers\, collectible contemporary design galleries\, and artisans. \nPalais-Royal/Place des Victoires/Pigalle – the new center of attraction for all the latest fashions\, with textile and carpet designers based in and around Rue du Mail. \nThe outdoor exhibitions\nDesign Sur Cours invites designers to design installations in the courtyards and gardens of some of the world’s most important monuments. The ceramic tiles\, produced by the Dutch brand Palet\, pick up the colors of the quarters’ dwellings: the red of Pierre-Élisabeth de Fontanieu’s bedroom and the turquoise blue of the physics cabinet. Atop its pedestal\, the XXL ceremonial bed sports an exuberant array of drapery and pillows. Cabinetmaker Pierre Renart\, meanwhile\, presents an original work here with the Maison Parisienne gallery. Inspired by the theme of travel\, he has taken up the headquarters courtyard and its 18th-century architecture with Escale\, a wraparound hammock made of wooden slats. \nDiscover CIFF Shanghai 2024 \nChinese brand Moreless\, Paris Design Week September 2024 \nThe electric Renault 5 E-Tech\nThe electric Renault 5 E-Tech arrives in Paris. Comfort is the fil rouge of this new setting. \nAccor Design Awards x Sofitel\nTo celebrate Sofitel’s 60th anniversary\, the 2024 Luxury Edition of the Accor Design Awards invited international interior design students to rethink a hotel lobby. There\, he learned to reuse woodworking scraps\, a technique he perfected in art school. His creations\, in fact\, feature his ability to work with raw materials sourced according to availability. Lionel Jadot creates unique works of functional art and collectible design. For interior architecture\, Jadot works with designer-makers\, who work with him in his atelier in Zaventem\, outside Brussels. His designs\, therefore\, are eco-friendly\, artisanal and technological at the same time. \n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n\nThe Future On Stage competition\nFor the past three years\, Future On Stage\, Maison&Objet’s major showcase for French and international talent\, has rewarded companies less than three years old that are at the forefront of innovation\, business and creativity in design\, decoration and lifestyle. The winners of the 2024 edition are Sungai Design (Bali and Paris)\, Konqrit (Buenos Aires)\, and Apollo (Bois-Colombes\, France). \nSungai Watch and Sungai Design\, from Indonesia\, are sisters brands. The former is an environmental foundation that collects and sorts plastic from Bali’s rivers. The newer brand started on a new path in recent months\, turning plastic into furniture. From the ideas of French brothers Kelly\, Gary\, and Sam Bencheghib came the Ombak chair\, made of recycled plastic and hand-assembled. \nFrom Argentina\, on the other hand\, comes Konqrit\, the brainchild of a former fashion consultant. Cecilia García Galofre set out to explore the boundaries of bathroom furniture\, and to see how far one can go with decoration. The result is bathtubs as works of art\, decorated both inside and out\, by different artists. \nFinally\, Paul de Livron pioneered a manufacturing technique to produce wooden wheelchairs\, under the Apollo brand. Creative and practical\, the designer-engineer creates unique pieces out of okoumé wood (or with charred Notre Dame beam splinters). To launch this wheelchair model\, Paul de Livron also organized a presentation to the Pope\, “the perfect testimonial.” \nDiscover Paris Design Week 2024 \n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n\nWhy visit\nMaison & Objet Paris has the power of one of the world’s biggest trade fairs \nMaison & Objet hosts 2\,500 exhibitors\, 55 percent from abroad. SUMMARY:CIFF Shanghai - China International Furniture Fair 2024
DESCRIPTION:This article covers the 2024 edition. For the following editions\, see CIFF Shanghai 2025 and CIFF Shanghai 2026 \nCIFF Shanghai returns to the Shanghai Hongqiao National Exhibition & Convention Center\, on September 11-14\, 2024. This is the 54th edition of CIFF\, the most important furniture design fair in China\, and one of the leading ones in the world. The first edition of this design event in Shanghai took place in 2015\, so the next one will be the 10th\, as CIFF Shanghai also ran in 2020\, despite the pandemic. \nDiscover CIFF Shanghai 2024 \nDesign East Show 2023 \nThe Shanghai show hosts over 1\,500 exhibitors\, representing the entire furniture supply chain. In fact\, CIFF Shanghai features home\, office and outdoor furniture\, decoration\, upholstery fabrics\, and machinery for the furniture industry. There are more than 150\,000 visitors from about 200 countries and regions worldwide. \nDesign in Shanghai\nThe design content of CIFF Shanghai is always very high. Since the first edition\, CIFF has been hosting the East Design Show. The exhibition\, curated by Zhu Xiaojie (a renowned interior designer)\, host students and young designers\, and let them express themselves around a theme. In addition to students and young designers\, several emerging brands exhibit here. This year\, the exhibition will be called Creative Design Showcase\, and the team of designer Zhu Xiaojie also curate it this time. \nDiscover CIFF Guangzhou \nEast Design Show 2016 \nAt CIFF Shanghai\, one can see real living design trends. Many Chinese brands are now of international relevance\, such as Camerich\, HC28\, Chic Casa\, Teesure\, Hik\, Coomo\, DAaZ\, Mextra\, Dou Home\, and M°NACA. Imagination – Contemporary Design Life Exhibition will combine exhibitions and interviews to inspire creativity and discover the design of living trends. \nDiscover CIFF Guangzhou 2024 \nArmchair by Roderik Vos for HC28\, CIFF Shanghai 2023 \nGreat international architects at CIFF Shanghai\nCIFF Shanghai also has a tradition of collaboration with international designers and architects. In 2019\, for example\, the conference “Architecture: from Alvaro Siza’s Modernism to the Digital Future” took place. The forum star was Alvaro Siza\, the Portuguese architect who designed the China Design Museum of Bauhaus Collection\, in Hangzhou\, a building opened in 2018 that houses the Bauhaus Collection of the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou (CAA). The forum\, titled “Designed for Humans: From Alvaro Siza’s Modernism into the Digital Future\,” organized by CIFF and Aedes Architecture Forum\, brought together seven world-renowned architects. \nDiscover the contemporary office at CIFF Guangzhou 2024 \nCamerich Pavilion by studio Alvaro Siza Vieira\, 2019 \nThey were Sou Fujimoto\, António Choupina\, Anouk Legendre\, Philip Feng Yuan-a professor at Tongji University; Martha Thorne\, secretary of the Pritzker Prize; Mario Carpo\, professor at University College London; and Mette Ramsgaard Thomsen\, professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. The subject of the conference was production in a digital future. \nAlso in 2024\, there will be an exhibition dedicated to Álvaro Siza\, Siza Theme Exhibition\, an exhibition on his design and architecture. \nThe exhibits at CIFF Shanghai\nSeveral brands collaborate with international designers and architects\, but Camerich\, an internationally renowned company\, takes advantage of CIFF Shanghai to explore topical issues in design and architecture\, designing booths of great interest. In 2019 for example\, it was the turn of the Siza Pavilion for Camerich\, a more than 700 square meters pavilion named “Portuguese Elephant.” Besides the size\, which was definitely large\, what stood out in that project was the attention paid to the booth’s architecture\, rather than the display of products. \nDiscover Cersaie Bologna 2024 \nCamerich Pavilion by Alvaro Siza\, 2019 \nFirst of all\, to create a silent and rarefied atmosphere inside the pavilion\, the outer walls were made of a material that insulated from heat and noise\, covered with mineral wool and aluminum\, with an additional silver layer that was both scenic and fireproof. The floors were made of natural oak\, the walls were white plaster\, and the rooms were revealed in succession\, as in the courtyards of Chinese houses. In fact\, the pavilion had seven entrances\, which created different viewpoints. Similarly\, the company chose to display only two products\, illustrating the various stages of their creation\, from design to fine-tuning. \n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n\nNeri & Hu x Camerich Pavilion\, 2022\nIn 2022\, on the other hand\, the world-renowned firm Neri & Hu designed a sustainable and recyclable stand for Camerich\, as well as a very impressive one. A lattice of more than 1\,000 bamboo canes drew a space where visitors moved freely. The structure could be expanded or narrowed as needed\, and besides\, bamboo is a particularly sustainable wood\, that grows quickly and is suitable for many processes. The bamboo structure enclosed the walls on the outside\, leaving only a tiny entrance. Inside\, there was an articulated pathway\, in a succession of corridors and islands with furniture products. The various islands thus became rooms\, real domestic settings\, reminiscent of a real home. \n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n\nDesign Eden: A New Paradigm\nThe next edition of CIFF Shanghai takes place from September 11 to 14\, 2024. The claim of the next edition will be “Design Eden”\, to emphasize the cultural and design component of the fair. Indeed\, at CIFF Shanghai\, design and business integrate seamlessy\, and a community of 300\,000 designers finds multiple opportunities for cultural enrichment and business opportunities. \nWhy visit\nCIFF Shanghai is one of China’s most influential design and furniture events. In addition to the furniture exhibition\, there are several side events\, such as CIFF Select Show\, which selects products with the highest design content. On the other hand\, design Eden – Contemporary Design Trade Fair will welcome Chinese brands specializing in high-end design\, brands known worldwide. In addition to design products\, CIFF offers an extensive program of side activities\, such as forums and seminars with Chinese and international guests. Finally\, the Creative Design Showcase\, curated by designer Zhu Xiaojie’s team\, is an excellent opportunity to see emerging designers and brands up close. \nCIFF Shanghai\, September\, 11-14\, 2024\nCIFF Shanghai is for professionals only\nSize: 1\,500 exhibitors\, 150\,000 visitors in 2023 \nVisit CIFF-sh.com website for more info

SUMMARY:London Design Festival 2024
DESCRIPTION:This article covers the 2024 edition. For the following editions\, see London Design Festival 2025 and London Design Festival 2026\nThe origin of London Design Festival \nIn 2003\, Sir John Sorrell CBE and Ben Evans CBE founded the London Design Festival. Building on London’s existing design activities\, their idea was to create an annual event that would promote the city’s creativity by engaging British design practitioners and thinkers\, to provide a grand celebration of design.  \nAn extraordinary audience in London\nIn 2019\, the Festival welcomed a record 600\,000 visitors from over 75 countries. Now in its 22nd year\, the London Design Festival celebrates its key role in the design industry’s growth. It also strengthens London’s position as a global destination for business\, culture and tourism. It contributes to the UK’s reputation as a center of creative power. As one of the world’s leading design events\, the Festival continues to be a key moment in the cultural calendar. \nDiscover Clerkenwell Design Week in London \nBamboo Ring by Kengo Kuma\, V&A Museum\, London Design Festival 2019 \nThe London Design Festival 2024\nFor 2024\, 14-22 September\, the London Design Festival offers a wide variety of events as always. “Visit Greater Palm Springs” and Nina Tolstrup bring the inimitable mid-century Barbie brand to the Aldwych Strand. Beverage giant Johnnie Walker and art collective Marshmallow Laser Feast delve into the innovative world of glassmaking at the Old Selfridges Hotel\, while at Somerset House\, Dutch solar designer Marjan van Aubel (with support from Bloomberg Philanthropies) gives new meaning to the phrase “a place in the sun.” \nDiscover Surface Design Show in London \nPavilions of Wonder by Nina Tolstrup. AHEC\, Diez Office\, and OMC°C focus on sustainable structures and biodiversity at Chelsea College of Arts. Finally\, at Fortnum & Mason\, designer Jaime Hayon reinterprets the storefronts and atrium of the historic store to striking effect.  \nRead more about the Design Week Guide \n‘Duo’ installation by Melek Zeynep\, in the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich\, London Design Festival 2024 \nThese major projects complement a myriad of smaller Spotlight events scattered throughout the city’s Design Districts (11 this year). \nIn addition\, the 2024 Medal winners -titans from the worlds of cosmetics\, fashion\, humanitarian engineering\, and holistic biotechnology- include emerging and (very) established names\, celebrating the creative spirit for a range of holistic\, benevolent and aesthetic purposes. \nAs always\, the Global Design Forum raises big questions and compels even bigger answers. This year\, topics of the discussions at the V&A Museum include designing for the human experience\, building healthier cities\, and embracing resilience and repair within our industries. \nAs with 2023\, the London Design Festival partnered with Bloomberg Connects’ mobile guide to make the Festival easier to navigate- an essential tool when there is so much to discover. \nWhy visit\nThe London Design Festival is a wide-ranging project\, offering some specialized sector exhibitions and area-wide projects. The projects\, scattered throughout the city\, also involve the general public\, who are not very design savvy. It’s a chance to visit London\, and to see areas you might not usually go to. Or\, at any rate\, revisit buildings or areas you already know in a different guise. For the specialist audience of interior designers\, architects\, and designers\, the Festival is a chance to visit showrooms after hours\, see new product innovations\, and meet the renowned designers participating. SUMMARY:The Lake Como Design Festival
DESCRIPTION:From September 15 to 22\, 2024\, the 2024 edition of the Lake Como Design Festival returns to Como. Established in 2018 as the Lake Como Design Fair\, curated by Margherita Ratti\, over the years\, it turned into the Lake Como Design Festival and is now in its sixth edition. Lake Como Design Festival is an annual themed event that develops in Como and around the lake. Exhibitions\, talks and events take place in historical\, unseen\, or somewhat forgotten places in Como city and the area. \nDiscover Milan Design Week  \n9+1 Yuko Sakamoto\, Contemporary Design Selection \nA Festival of design and architecture in Como\nThe festival concept aims to establish an original dialogue between history\, architecture\, design and art. Lake Como Design Festival is conceived and promoted by the association Wonderlake Como. Wonderlake Como creates editorial projects and organizes cultural events to promote Como and the surrounding area in Italy and worldwide.  \nThe Lake Como Festival 2024\nFor 2024\, the Lake Como Design Festival enriches its program with a series of exhibitions and special events in Como\, on the lake shores. The main theme of the 2024 edition is lightness. In the Como city center\, the festival will take place between the Palazzo del Broletto and the church of San Pietro in Atrio. On the other hand\, Villa del Grumello and the other locations within the Chilometro della Conoscenza (Kilometer of Knowledge) will be the stars on the lakefront. In addition\, at Villa Anna in Cernobbio and Borgovico33 in downtown Como\, there will be two special projects by Grieder Contemporary gallery. Finally\, in various locations around the city\, you will find site-specific installations by artist Valerio Eliogabalo Torrisi.  \nDiscover Milan Design Week 2024 \nJorinde Voigt-Grieder Contemporary at Borgovico 33 \nThe main theme: Lightness\n“The theme of lightness\, which we have chosen for this year\, can be declined in countless forms of creativity\,” explains festival artistic director Lorenzo Butti. “Developing exhibitions and special projects that can propose a dialogue between art and design has always been the stylistic hallmark of our program. Every year we strive to propose to our visitors a new way of looking at creativity\, placing the exhibitions in unique architectural contexts\, themselves an integral part of the exhibition itinerary.”  \nLightness in progress at Villa Del Grumello\nWithin the late Renaissance spaces of the Villa Del Grumello\, the Lake Come Design Festival 2024 will host the Lightness in Progress exhibition. It’s a selection of works\, projects\, objects and furnishings from different galleries\, design studios\, and archives on the theme of lightness. The scenic greenhouses and other spectacular sites of the Kilometer of Knowledge will instead host the projects of the Contemporary Design Selection. This is an exhibition dedicated to independent design\, curated by Giovanna Massoni for the second consecutive year. In addition\, in the villa’s ancient dockyard\, there will be the audio/video installation Paesaggi d’acqua (Water Landscapes) by Stefano Larotonda and Niccolò Nessi\, with narration by Giuseppe Innocente.  \nMilan Salone del Mobile \nThe Form of Lightness\nDowntown\, in the Palazzo del Broletto\, is the exhibition The Form of Lightness\, a look at the theme of lightness in more than 100 years of design of a fundamental element of furniture\, the chair.  \nThe 13th-century church of San Pietro in Atrio\, meanwhile\, will host Lightness on Paper\, an exhibition project created to celebrate 35 years of Lithos\, a Como-based publishing house specializing in prints and art books. The exhibition will feature new works created by some of the most well-known and appreciated Italian and international architects\, designers and creatives.  \nAmong the special projects\, a series of site-specific installations by artist Valerio Eliogabalo Torrisi will involve different city entities. Swiss gallery Grieder Contemporary\, on the other hand\, will exhibit 33 works by artist Jorinde Voigt in its Borgovico space. In its new venue at Villa Anna\, in Cernobbio\, it will set up the group exhibition Weight of Illumination.  \nDiscover CIFF Shanghai 2024 \nChilometro della Conoscenza \nContemporary Design Selection\nAt the Lake Como Design Festival 2024\, the Chilometro della Conoscenza (Kilometer of Knowledge) park is hosting the Contemporary Design Selection\, a project curated by Giovanna Massoni for the second year in a row. The participants in this project are: \n9+1 (JP)\, Alice Pilastre (FR / BE) + Mathilde Tinturier (CH) + Andy Farrow (UK/BE)\, Anton Burdakov (UA/DE/UK)\, Atelier Nuanda (IT)\, Atelier Serruys (BE)\, Atelier Versi Linien (FR/IT)\, Biancodichina (IT)\, Caterina Frongia (IT)\, curaa studio (IT)\, Danik Uderbekov (KZ)\, Dora Stanczel (FR) + pietre trovanti (IT)\, ENEI (CH/AR/ES)\, Guto Davies (UK)\, Hana Hillerova (CZ)\, Ilaria Marelli (IT)\, Inessa Hansch (BE/FR)\, Jean- François D’Or (BE)\, JOHY (AT)\, Jonathan Bocca (IT)\, Marie José D’Aprile (IT)\, Marike Andeweg (NL)\, Marino Secco (IT)\, Marta Lavinia Carboni (IT)\, Millim Studio (IT)\, Paulina Herrera Letelier (CL/IT)\, Philippine Aprile Mandillon (FR)\, RAAD Studio (ES)\, Sarah Carestia (BE)\, Sjang Niederwieser (NL)\, Studio Gunther Pfeffer (DE)\, Studiointervallo (IT)\, Studio Khachatryan (ARM/BE)\, Studio Yellowdot (HK/TR)\, Szostak Atelier (PL)\, Temperance by Ilaria Bianchi x Studio Giallo (IT)\, Ye Sul E. Cho (KR/UK/CAN).  \nOn display are a series of objects in dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and technology\, updating techniques and materials in the name of sustainability.  \nThree thematic clusters for contemporary design\nThis thinking turns into three thematic clusters. The first imagines a subtraction of weight\, materials\, processing and structures\, that determine the object’s lightness\, as well as a reduction in weight and impact on the planet. A second cluster is dedicated to agile\, transformable\, foldable\, transportable\, multifunctional and adaptable objects. The third thinks about spaces of light; light is lightness par excellence. In the Serra del Grumello\, inside the park\, there’s a temporary restaurant curated by Michelin-starred chef Samuel Carugati. It’s realized thanks to the partnership with FENIX®\, Pedrali\, Davide Groppi and Acqua Chiarella. The space will be animated by a series of talks with the designers of the Contemporary Design Selection\, powered by ParolaProgetto and moderated by journalist Paolo Ferrarini. \nBelow\, images of Lake Como Design Festival 2023 \n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n\nWhy Visit\nIn recent years\, Lake Como has been a destination for celebrities who find a home there and offer an image of the area that does not always match the reality. Lake Como Design Festival allows people to discover contemporary design in a highly prestigious historical setting. The festival can be an opportunity to discover an area that invites slow exploration\, with the rhythm of the lake. It’s less hectic than the sea\, and with a relaxed climate. Wonderlake\, the association that organizes the festival\, also offers many other cultural initiatives in different areas to discover the most hidden aspects of Lake Como. \nSeptember is also the best time to stroll among cultural initiatives\, with ideal weather\, neither hot nor cold. \nLake Como Design Festival\, September 15-22\, 2024\nFor professionals and general public\nSize: 7 venues\nDifferent locations\, Como\nVisit LakeComoDesignFestival.com for info \nBelow\, images from Lake Como Design Festival 2022

Organized by DesignSingapore Council (DSG)\, the design festival\, which debuted in 2005\, is one of Asia’s premier design festivals that celebrates Singapore’s distinctive brand of creativity. It will traverse the city-state with a rich and thought-provoking program curated around this year’s theme\, “People of Design.” \nSingapore Design Week 2024 will celebrate the everyday visionaries who shape our society through design\, united by their collective aspiration to enhance our life experience. “Singapore has a distinct vision and approach\, driven by a desire to drive positive change worldwide through design. For this edition of Singapore Design Week\, we will spotlight the innovators whose impactful ideas help us all live better. We invite all groups and communities to join us in Singapore and participate in a wide range of specially curated programs.  \nDiscover Milan Design Week \nExhibition Playground of Possibilities\, Singapore Design Week 2023 \nThrough being at this year’s festival\, we hope everyone will gain a deeper appreciation for the role of design and find inspiration to bring larger design outcomes to the fore”\, says Jody Teo\, Festival Director of SDW 2024.  \nRefreshed content aligned to festival pillars \nA suite of engaging key programs reflects the festival’s three pillars: Design Futures\, Design Marketplace\, and Design Impact. DSG thus works closely with leading industry experts to inform\, intrigue\, and inspire all participants at this year’s SDW. Design Futures will explore the future of design through Singapore’s forward-looking lens\, aiming to prototype a better future for us all. ‘Upholding this pillar’ is SDW’s flagship Design Futures Forum\, which returns with an expanded format that spans two days. \nDesign Futures Forum at Singapore Design Week 2024\nKeynote speaker and “godmother of the metaverse” Cathy Hackl (CEO\, Spatial Dynamics) will join segment curators\, Singapore-based venture capitalist Debra Langley(Venture Partner\, LyraVentures)\, Aric Chen (General and Artistic Director\, Het Nieuwe Instituut)\, and DesignSingaporeCouncil’s Tamsin Greulich-Smith (Director\, School of X) to usher in insights from fellow thought leaders on design’s critical role in areas of Emerging Technology\, Sustainability and Care. Through thought-provoking presentations\, engaging panel discussions\, and interactive hands-on sessions\, the role of design and designers in the face of rapidly advancing technologies will be thoroughly examined\, encouraging participants to enact change in their own spheres of influence after that. Design Marketplace will unite lifestyle trends from around the world with the fast-growing design community of the Southeast Asia region.  \nDiscover Milan Design Week 2024 \n \nFIND–Design Fair Asia\, a design trade fair\, presents its third edition at Marina Bay Sands on 26 to 28 September 2024. \nEMERGE@FIND\, DSG’s talent showcase dedicated to Southeast Asian contemporary design\, curated by Suzy Annetta of Design Anthology\, returns with the theme of ‘These Precious Things.’ Over 50 emerging and established designers from Indonesia\, Malaysia\, the Philippines\, Singapore\, Thailand\, and Vietnam will present new works that explore internal and external value ideas. The exhibition\, which showcases donated personal objects being mended creatively by designers\, was first presented locally by DSG and Hans Tan in 2021\, then at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum in 2022. This new iteration\, Repair+\, focuses on mending the mind and spirit through donated objects collected in collaboration with the Yishun Health Singapore healthcare network. \nMarina Design District at Singapore Design Week 2024\nThis year\, the expanded Marina Design District will feature Marina Central for the first time\, alongside the iconic Marina Bay area. Helming curatorial duties at Marina Central is Nathan Yong\, founder of the eponymous multidisciplinary studio. As one of Singapore’s most recognized and awarded designers\, Yong will present Neu Folk: Bridging Tradition and Future in Design. It’s a series of activations that merges communities’ collective spirit with the future-thinking vision of Singaporean design. \nKey highlights include the Design Pavilion at Millenia Walk\, which will house a curated exhibition\, talks\, retail experiences\, and workshops on sustainability and innovation. SUMMARY:Pietrasanta Design Week-end 2024
DESCRIPTION:The third edition of Pietrasanta Design Week-end runs in Pietrasanta\, Tuscany\, from September 26 to 29\, 2024.  \nThe 2024 edition of Pietrasanta Design Week-end\, an initiative founded by Paola Silva Coronel\, takes place over three days\, with a rich program of exhibitions\, installations and talks.  \nThe common thread of this edition is the hallmark. That is\, an invitation to brands and designers to show and tell themselves through their cultural background\, emphasizing the difference that distinguishes artistic production from industrial production. \nSpeaking of industrial production and design\, an unprecedented duo\, Giulio Cappellini and Giulio Iacchetti\, arrives at the Church of Saint Augustine to stage the Versilia of all time. “Abitiamo alla marinara (We live seafaring-style)” tells the design of yesterday and today through four islands + 1 dedicated to life on the beach\, from relaxation to sports\, food\, and play. The +1 island is dedicated to a new outdoor furniture collection\, designed by Giulio Iacchetti for Ezio Foppa Pedretti and presented here exclusively.  \nDiscover Courmayeur Design Week-end \nPietrasanta Design Week-end 2024. Photo Giacomo Buzio\, courtesy Pietrasanta Design Week-end \nDesign in Tuscany\nBetween art and design\, two of the contents on display inside the Cloister unfold. The Sala dei Putti hosts a photography exhibition curated by Alberto Mattia Martini with shots by max&douglas\, whose title is “Inside Artist.” The collection of artists’ portraits premiers in Pietrasanta. In the Sala del Capitolo\, a painter\, Pilar Saltini\, signs canvases that become the setting for an installation of Kartell products\, curated by FABRIC. In a dialogue between art and design\, the visitor’s gaze travels into the infinite space of the polychrome canvases\, starting from the shapes and colors typical of the Kartell universe. \nPietrasanta Design Week-end 2023 \nArchitecture and design in magical Versilia\nIn the Chiostro di Sant’Agostino (Cloister of St. Augustine)\, between the arcade and the gardens\, is an installation by GBPA Architects for Medit\, with lamps by Dixpari. In Duomo Square\, a green installation by Silvia Ghirelli and Giuseppe Tortato Architetti for Kindof and VilleGiardini magazine is back. \nAlso outside the Complex\, in the magical quadrilateral of the Giardino della Lumaca (Snail Garden)\, 967Arch rethinks the green space by staging an open-air lounge signed FIM/CORO\, with the green touch of Silvia Ghirelli\, a land artist who already signed one of the most appreciated installations last year. \nDiscover Courmayeur Design Week-end 2024 \nPietrasanta Design Week-end 2024. Photo Giacomo Buzio\, courtesy Pietrasanta Design Week-end \nDesign by the beach in Forte dei Marmi\nFrom the Apuan Alps\, the gaze and thoughts run to the sea\, where Design Week-end pushes on for the first time\, animating one of Forte dei Marmi’s historic beach resorts. Here again\, outdoor beach furniture finds its natural habitat\, inviting the Design Week-end audience to discover the tradition of Versilia and the anticipation of the next stage. Here\, in fact\, is a glimpse of CourmaBeach\, the beach on the snow\, which was a success in February in Courmayeur.  \nOn the long and wonderful beach\, one of the most goliardic moments of this new edition will be the tournament of marbles\, customized with the faces of the designers\, instead of the historical cyclists. Studio Giuseppe Tortato Architetti joins the technological skills of WIP Work in Progress to create jumps and parabolics. There is also no shortage of special effects with augmented reality\, thanks to the skill and imagination of DOS Design Open Spaces. Like every year and every edition\, the sports/goliardic fractions are always captained by Cardex\, the leading partner again on this occasion\, with Sedus. \nDiscover Bangkok Design Week 2024 \nPietrasanta Design Week-end 2024. Photo Giacomo Buzio\, courtesy Pietrasanta Design Week-end \nBetween Friday and Saturday\, there is also the second edition of sailingCAD\, the sailing regatta for architects and designers\, which this year opts for the match-race mode\, with direct elimination trials.  \nThe agenda also consists of several talks\, scheduled from Friday to Sunday\, with two appointments daily\, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  \nA high value design program\nADI – Associazione per il Disegno Industriale (Industrial Design Association) and Altagamma\, with their patronage\, confirm the high value of the content and program of this small event\, which year after year is establishing itself among the events with a higher following. \n“The year 2024 closes at its best\, bringing three editions to a close “-the comment of Paola Coronel\, creator\, and organizer of the event-” For the first time we have put on the calendar three appointments bringing design from north to south\, from Valle d’Aosta to Puglia\, to Tuscany. The February edition in Courmayeur was very well received\, in fact it will return in February 2025\, from the 6th to the 9th. The credit for this result should be equally divided between the brands\, which recognize in our appointment a real opportunity to network and do business\, the Ministry of Tourism\, the municipal administrations\, which believe in this project\, and the Design Week-end Circle\, which grows from edition to edition in bringing culture and innovation.” \nParticipating as Event Partners: Cardex\, Dixpari\, FIM\, CORO\, Ezio Foppa Pedretti\, Interni Now\, Kindof\, Medit\, Sedus\, Studio Stagetti\, Unopiù\, Verde Profilo. Special thanks also to the Technical Partners: Alessi\, Alias Design\, Artemide\, Bertani\, Bibolotti Garden\, Borsalino\, Bruno Longoni Atelier d’arredamento\, Cappellini\, Cassina\, Danese Milano\, Flos\, IconeLuce\, Kartell\, Living Divani\, Marvis\, MV Line\, Persol\, Newlab\, PoltronaFrau\, Sundek\, Surfer’s Den\, Talenti\, Vannucci Piante\, and Zanotta. \nWhy visit\nPietrasanta Design Week-end brings designers and industry experts together in Pietrasanta\, a beautiful city in Tuscany\, close to the sea. Conceived by Paola Coronel\, this initiative promotes design to tourists and general public\, who can learn more about design-related topics. The Design Week-end includes talks\, conferences and exhibitions\, to explore and share innovation and knowledge in the design field. Therefore\, it’s a perfect opportunity to spend a weekend in nature and\, at the same time\, visit design exhibitions and meet great people in the design industry. \nDesign Week-end has the support of the Ministry of Tourism\, and the sponsorship of Altagamma\, ADI and the Order of Architects\, Planners\, Landscapers and Conservators of Lucca Province. \nPietrasanta Design Week-end\, Courmayeur\, September 26-29\, 2024\nPietrasanta Design Week-end is open to the public\nDifferent locations\nVisit website Designweek-end.it for more info
