Tom Dixon Takes Over a Copenhagen Carpark

Exploring Hyper-Mobility and Fluid Living at 3 Days of Design 2026

This June, Copenhagen’s design landscape is set for a raw, subterranean transformation. British design house Tom Dixon is making an ambitious return to the annual 3Daysodesign festival 2026, with an immersive takeover of the Egmont carpark in central Copenhagen. Running from June 10 to 12, 2026, the exhibition—aptly titled THE CARPARK—reimagines an overlooked industrial venue into a bold architectural stage exploring hyper-mobility, adaptability, and the fluid movement of contemporary life.

An Urban Metaphor for Modern Living

The choice of a concrete carpark is central to the concept of the installation. Often dismissed as purely functional, transient, and mundane, the carpark serves as a powerful metaphor for our increasingly fluid lifestyles. As the boundaries between inside and outside, work and leisure, continue to dissolve, our environments demand furnishings that can adapt instantly. By placing premium design within this rugged backdrop, Tom Dixon highlights the sharp contrast between interior comfort and exterior resilience, effectively blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor environments.

The installation brings together an array of stacking, lighting, and seating designs engineered to transition effortlessly across changing spaces. It represents a deliberate collision of tactile experiences: soft fabrics contrasting with hard surfaces, high-gloss finishes playing against raw architectural textures, and lightweight portability juxtaposed with industrial gravity.

From Milan to Copenhagen: Tom Dixon’s collection highlights

Visitors navigating the industrial corridors of THE CARPARK will experience a carefully curated narrative of current releases and exclusive future previews. Front and center is the full Autumn/Winter 2026 (AW26) collection, which made its celebrated global debut earlier this year at the MuaMua Hotel and Mulino Estate during Milan’s Salone del Mobile. This collection features striking, sculptural statements including the FLARE luminaire, the WHIRL Copper and MELT Nickel lights, and the highly versatile SPOT tables, complemented by an elegant new range of lifestyle accessories, scented candles, textiles, and crafted vases. Design enthusiasts can look forward to these arriving in retail stores starting September 1st.

Stepping into the future, the exhibition also showcases key weather-ready and portable lighting pieces from the Spring/Summer 2026 (SS26) line, alongside an exclusive, highly anticipated preview of Spring/Summer 2027 (SS27). This sneak peek includes the architectural GROOVE outdoor furniture collection finished in a sleek, glossy black coat, the generous proportions of the new PLUMP armchair, and a compact, IP44-rated outdoor version of the iconic MELT light engineered to brave the elements. Rounding out the future preview are the new POSE portables and task lights cast in rich bronze, an expanded range of decorative scent accessories, and oversized outdoor plant pots designed specifically to define flexible, transitional living spaces.
