Design Culture – Kachette arches, Old Street
Located in the heart of the Shoreditch Design Triangle, the event is set to attract a global audience of architects, designers, and creatives. Attendees can look forward to thought-provoking talks (co-curated by journalist Roddy Clarke), immersive installations, brand experiences, and a compelling mix of emerging talent and established names. Design London Shoreditch is on track to become a must-visit destination during the London Design Festival.
Shoreditch Design Triangle
Shoreditch Design Triangle is a cultural event celebrating East London’s creative industries, <strong>this year in its 17th edition. Launched in 2008, it brings together designers, companies, and institutions to showcase their work – especially during the London Design Festival, but also at other key times like Christmas and Easter.
For the first time, Shoreditch will host three major, industry-focused showcases as part of the festival. Design London Shoreditch (16-18 September) will take over Shoreditch Town Hall, the Kachette arches on Old Street, and Protein Studios on New Inn Yard. These landmark venues will be complemented by a rich programme of showroom exhibitions and one-off events, featuring over forty participants throughout the district.

2. Design Culture

At Kachette, Design Culture explores the influence of culture on design. Curated works from independent designers, artists, and graduates from Kingston University highlight the power of design to shape space. The exhibition showcases everything from statement pieces to finely crafted products—each rooted in cultural identity.
3. House of ICON
Shoreditch Town Hall, 380 Old St, EC1V 9LT
Taking over the iconic Shoreditch Town Hall, House of ICON celebrates interior design in all its forms. From minimalist Scandinavian lines to bold, eclectic expressions, brands reimagine historic rooms with standout furniture, lighting, textiles, and accessories. It’s a highlight of Design London Shoreditch, merging history with cutting-edge design.

Installations and collaborations
Across all three venues, Design London Shoreditch hosts boundary-pushing installations and creative collaborations:
- 2LG Studio – “You Can Sit With Us” (House of ICON): Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead create an inclusive salon spotlighting queer designers. The space encourages connection, conversation, and tarot readings. 2LG also curates the talks space and an open mic night for designers.
- Ben Cullen Williams – “Self Portrait”: A groundbreaking AI-driven collaboration with Google DeepMind and Google Arts & Culture Lab. The installation reflects self-portraiture through machine learning, trained on Williams’ own photography.
- ISOLA (House of ICON): A global community of designers, studios, and creators showcases their latest work in this collective exhibition.
- British Council – “Ancient Futures” (Design Culture): This initiative explores ancestral knowledge, ecological practices, and sustainable futures through cultural exchange and artistic collaboration.
- Royal College of Art – MA Design Products Showcase: Graduates present innovative projects across design disciplines, including furniture, objects, materials, interaction, and narrative work—each offering a fresh view on contemporary challenges.
- Lois O’Hara Bar Installation (House of ICON): Known for her colorful curves, O’Hara designs a social space that invites guests to connect over drinks and creative energy.
- Moleskine Workshops (Design Culture): Hands-on workshops celebrate the art of handwriting and drawing. Visitors co-create in a space designed to inspire self-expression and creativity.
- Design Discussions with Roddy Clarke: The talks programme, co-curated by Clarke, brings together bold thinkers and creatives to explore the evolving world of design. These sessions will be at the heart of Design London Shoreditch this September.
