Discover Design Shanghai 2025

Shanghai Exhibition Center
The Chinese high-end design furniture market
The 2026 edition arrives at a time of transformation in the Chinese high-end furniture market. Valued at approximately $160–180 billion, China’s furniture sector is experiencing a shift toward premium local brands, particularly among younger consumers. These brands combine advanced manufacturing, strong cultural identity, and contemporary design language. The home furnishings segment alone exceeds $65 billion and is projected to surpass $79 billion by 2030, while high-end design furniture made in China is expected to grow steadily at a 4.8% CAGR through 2032.
Reflecting this evolution, Design Shanghai will showcase over 500 brands from more than 20 countries and regions across four key sectors: furniture and lighting; kitchen, bathroom, and system design; new materials and applications; and living and lifestyle. The exhibition presents design as an integrated system where technology, material research, craftsmanship, and human experience converge.
Design Shanghai: new craft culture
Curated platforms will interpret the emerging new craft culture shaping contemporary Asian design. Made in JDZ explores experimental ceramics from Jingdezhen, while Beyond Craft highlights the dialogue between traditional techniques and modern design thinking.

Design in the city
The event’s cultural reach extends beyond the venue with Design in the City (March 5–22, 2026). More than 100 locations across Shanghai will host installations, workshops, talks, and interactive experiences, transforming the city into a dynamic design ecosystem and strengthening the connection between global creativity and local urban culture.

Over 20 interactive experiences and satellite exhibitions – including installations, workshops, and talks – will extend the design journey beyond the exhibition venue, turning the city into an immersive design festival. Designers Sheen Tao, Roger Qian, Wang Deyang, and Zhang Yaotian will serve as regional ambassadors for Changning, Huangpu, Jing’an, and Xuhui, guiding the public through design narratives. A further indication of how Chinese design is redefining its role by focusing on identity, quality, and new generations.
