Helsinki Design Week and Habitare join forces in 2024, to launch a long-term collaboration. The purpose is to promote dialogue between designers and companies to accelerate the growth and internationalization of the design industry. Helsinki Design Week will take place from September 6 to 15, 2024, and Habitare from September 11 to 15, 2024.

Founded in 2005 by Kari Korkman, Helsinki Design Week is the largest design festival in the Nordic countries. Habitare, which has been running since 1970, is the largest design trade show in the Nordic countries. The starting point of the collaboration, which begins in 2024, is to support the design industry and its players. Helsinki Design Week thus becomes a platform for professionals and companies in the industry to meet from a business perspective.

Three main venues for one event
In September 2024, Habitare will be one of the three main venues of Helsinki Design Week. The other main venues will be the historic bank building at Paasivuorenkatu 3 in Hakaniemi, and Marsio, the meeting place of Aalto University in Otaniemi, which will open in September.
In the joint Showrooms Habitare x Helsinki Design Week event, the brands will present their products to industry professionals and the general public in their showrooms. The showrooms will host events as part of the Art Goes Showroom Habitare x Helsinki Design Week project.

Helsinki Design Week 2023, Paasivuorenkatu 3
The collaboration also takes the form of a co-produced program. The first part of talks on Habitare’s theme “Layers” and Helsinki Design Week’s theme “Underneath” will take place at Habitare’s featured exhibition on September 11, 2024, while the second part will take place at Paasivuorenkatu 3 on September 12, 2024.
Habitare will run at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre (Messukeskus) from September 11 to 15, 2024, and Helsinki Design Week from September 6 to 15, 2024. The Showrooms Habitare x Helsinki Design Week events will happen at showrooms in downtown Helsinki from September 11 to 15, 2024.
Helsinki Design Week is a member of World Design Weeks.
