After its debut in 2025, idd cologne, short for interior design days cologne, comes back from 27 to 31 October 2026. The event keeps its urban-only concept, with no trade fair halls of its own, and spreads residential interior design across showrooms, stores and design venues around the city. This year, it gains a stronger centre: Design Post Köln, which becomes the heart of the whole programme.
idd cologne takes place alongside ORGATEC 2026, the trade fair for workspace and contract solutions, running from 27 to 30 October. Together they make up Cologne’s interiors week, and for the first time they share a venue.

An event built around the city
idd cologne was designed to take interior design out of the fairgrounds and into Cologne itself. Private and trade visitors move between locations, discovering brands in settings closer to how people actually live with furniture and objects.
In 2026, Design Post Köln works as the starting point for this route. From here, visitors can head out to machwerkhaus köln, Design Season Cologne and a network of independent showrooms and stores. The result is a spread-out experience, held together by one central meeting place.

A shared venue with ORGATEC 2026
Design Post also hosts part of ORGATEC 2026, with brands such as Flokk, Hund Office, Klöber, Schneeweiss Interior and Wagner Living. For idd cologne visitors, this means home and work interiors sit side by side in the same building.

Why visit idd cologne 2026
idd cologne shows interiors where they make the most sense, in showrooms, stores and design venues across the city rather than in trade fair halls. At Design Post Köln, visitors can meet more than twenty international brands in one place, then head out to machwerkhaus köln, Design Season Cologne and independent showrooms to discover the local scene. With ORGATEC 2026 running alongside, one trip covers both home and work interiors. The event is also a good chance to get to know Cologne itself, from the cathedral and the old town to the banks of the Rhine, and the extra day on 31 October leaves time to enjoy the city once the fair has closed.
Looking ahead to 2027
The partnership between Koelnmesse, the organiser of idd cologne, and Design Post Köln began in July 2025. On 1 January 2027, Koelnmesse will take over the running of the venue, with its subsidiary Koelncongress in charge of marketing and operations.
For idd cologne, this suggests a more stable base in the years to come. An urban event needs a recognisable centre, and Design Post now looks set to fill that role on a lasting basis.
