The event runs from 2 to 7 December 2024, with the highlight BODW 2024 Summit design conference taking place from 4 to 6 December at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Featuring over 50 renowned creative leaders, entrepreneurs, and policymakers from around the world, the Summit explores how design-driven innovations address complex challenges and create a more sustainable future. Among the speakers at the design conference, we can mention Sir Thomas Heatherwick from UK, Poul Madsen from Normann Copenhagen (Denmark).

This year’s BODW partners with France as the Partner Country, with support from the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) under the HKSAR Government’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau as Lead Sponsor, and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) as Co-organiser. The leading theme is “Inter/Section: Design, Artistry, and Innovation,” the Summit will spotlight cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural innovation, bridging design, artistry, technology, tradition, and modernity while emphasizing East-West cultural exchange. The program aims to demonstrate design’s transformative power in products, processes, and strategies, fostering global collaboration in a fast-changing business landscape.

France is the country partner at BODW 2024
Marking the 60th anniversary of China-France diplomatic relations and the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism, France’s role as a Partner Country builds on a legacy of collaboration with HKDC, including BODW 2009 and this year’s Knowledge of Design Week (KODW). Highlights of this partnership include the Maison&Objet trade fair debuting in Hong Kong later this year, showcasing French excellence in decoration, design, and lifestyle.

Maison & Objet Design Factory at Asia Design Hub
The HKTDC will host flagship events DesignInspire and Business of IP Asia (BIP Asia) alongside BODW 2024. Additionally, the Maison & Objet Design Factory will debut at DesignInspire (5–7 December 2024), reinforcing Hong Kong’s status as Asia’s design hub. BODW 2024 features design conferences with over over 50 distinguished speakers from France, Hong Kong, Mainland China, and beyond, including Sir Thomas Heatherwick and Poul Madsen from Normann Copenhagen.
