Courmayeur Design Week-end is the event that takes place in the middle of the winter season in Courmayeur, Val d’Aosta. Courmayeur is one of the best-known winter tourist destinations in Italy and the world. Thus, it’s a perfect destination to promote design at a time and place far from Milan Design Week. Design Week-end is a high-profile summit sponsored by Altagamma and ADI.

The fourth edition of the Courmayeur Design Weekend runs from February 1st to 4th, 2024, and features several important new things. First among them, is the confirmation of Patricia Urquiola as keynote speaker for the conference scheduled for February 2nd in the Skyway Theater on Mont Blanc. After Michele De Lucchi, Carlo Ratti, and Piero Lissoni, Patricia Urquiola will be the star of the presentation.

“One step beyond” is the theme for the 2024 edition of Courmayeur Design Week-end. Being “one step beyond” means not only anticipating events, but also having a perspective that goes beyond the present. This is what every day pushes companies and designers to raise the bar on content, materials, and workmanship, to innovate and improve the world we live in. The Design Week-end is “one step beyond”. It takes advantage of the friendly occasion to share information and knowledge. This way, Courmayeur during the week-end turns into a big thinking laboratory.

Courmayeur Design Week-end 2024

The second major novelty of the Courmayeur Design Weekend concerns the entire “Design Week-end” format. The Ministry of Tourism, in fact, considers Design Week-end an innovative project for tourism enhancement and promotion. This acknowledgement is an important booster to bring this format to other locations, besides Courmayeur and Pietrasanta.

Among the different events of the 2024 edition is the “Courma Beach,” a beach on the snow. The idea of the beach came from the desire to use the areas unused in winter, as display spaces for outdoor furniture. Oysters & Champagne, a snow-beach volleyball court, and classic Versilia wooden deckchairs will welcome visitors in a comfortable and fun space.

The Foyer of the Convention Center hosts the exhibition “25 stories, the 25th anniversary of Alessi Museum”. The lounge hosting the display is designed by Fabric, with furniture by Ditre and lamps by Luceplan. Alessi celebrates 25 years of its Museum with an exhibition celebrated the most famous Italian Design Factories. Through 25 stories related to the Museum’s collections, Alessi pays tribute to the people and ideas that shaped its 102-year history. The installation, by A4Adesign, comes in recycled corrugated cardboard and is quick to assemble and dismantle.

Courmayeur Design Week-end is an event that brings designers and industry experts together in Courmayeur, at the height of the winter season. Conceived by Paola Coronel, this initiative promotes design to the public of snow enthusiasts, who can learn more about design-related topics. The Design Week-end includes debates, conferences, and exhibitions, to deepen and share innovation and knowledge in the design sector. Thus, it’s the perfect opportunity to spend a weekend in nature and, at the same time, visit design exhibitions and meet great people in the industry.
Design Week-end is an event realized with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, and the sponsorship of Altagamma, ADI and the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscapers and Conservators of the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta.
