Since its launch in 2023, Perth Design Week (PDW) has rapidly established itself as a premier platform for showcasing design excellence and fostering thought-provoking discussions on issues shaping Western Australia and beyond.

Now entering its third year, Perth Design Week 2025 (March 20-27) promises to be more impactful than ever, featuring new collaborators and over 75 events taking place across Boorloo (Perth) and beyond.

Drawing inspiration from world-renowned design festivals in cities such as Milan, New York, London, and Melbourne, PDW aspires to position Perth on the global map as a hub for design creativity, innovation, and critical thinking—particularly in areas such as sustainable design.

Perth Design Week 2025: an inclusive design festival

PDW – Perth Design Week 2025 is a landmark event for Perth’s creative community and beyond, providing a platform for innovative ideas and engagement with critical issues, including sustainable design, emerging talent, and design’s role in social change.

Co-founders Sandy Anghie and David Smith describe the festival as an annual celebration of design’s power to drive positive change.

Perth Design Week brings this awareness to the forefront, offering Western Australians the opportunity to engage meaningfully with the design community. Spanning a diverse range of disciplines – including architecture, urban planning, landscape design, interior design, furniture, fashion, and graphic design – PDW is designed to be inclusive and accessible to all. It is a celebration of how design influences every part of our lives and how we can collectively shape the world through creative collaboration.
Emphasizing inclusivity, the festival champions the idea that design is for everyone.

PDW 2025: a strong Italian presence

While PDW has a strong local focus, its growing international collaborations are strengthening Perth’s place in the global design conversation. In 2024, PDW signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Consulate of Italy in Perth, and this year, the works with the Consul of Italy continues.

As part of this collaboration, the Consulate of Italy in Perth, together with Curtin University, will present an exhibition by renowned Italian architect Mario Cucinella.

Italian creativity will be at the center of the partnership with Perth Design Week (March 20-27), which will feature the extraordinary participation of the famous architect and designer Mario Cucinella (author of the Italian Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025). As part of the celebrations for Italian Design Day, Cucinella will showcase exclusive installations and an exhibition dedicated to sustainable architecture, with the participation of leading Italian companies in the sector, including Molteni.
