February 6 to 15 March, 2025: these are the dates of Madrid Design Festival, now in its eighth edition. The festival transforms Madrid into the capital of design, cementing its privileged position on the international stage. The Madrid Design Festival 2025 event will spotlight Berlin as the invited city and feature around 200 activities, 20 exhibitions, and more than 80 OFF spaces, Open Studios, and showrooms.

The Madrid Design Festival is a long-running project that spreads throughout the city. A design festival becomes the best tool for democratizing design, and to convey the importance of a discipline that transforms our daily lives. A language that generates methodologies, changes mindsets, positively modifies our environment and, most importantly, redesigns the world.

A festival rich in events and renowned guests
The Festival is an event rich in ambitious proposals, putting design on the city’s cultural calendar. The many events attract a national and international audience throughout the capital for both exhibitions and educational activities. The Madrid Design Festival’s cross-disciplinary program features prominent designers and, at the same time, promotes young professionals.
The Festival organization works to turn the city of Madrid into a Design Festival every February; thus opening the season in which the city becomes a leading space in design and creativity. The Madrid Design Festival, conceived and created by La Fábrica, with the direction of Álvaro Matías, relies from the beginning on the collaboration of an advisory board including independent experts and specialists in different fields.

Since its first edition in 2028, the Madrid Design Festival has established itself as an international design event. Thanks to 48 exhibitions, 25 brands, and more than 200 initiatives with 320 professionals, by 2018 the Festival had already attracted more than 160,000 visitors. Today, nearly 500,000 people participate in each edition, along with 100 brands and institutions and 700 professionals.
The Madrid Design Awards at Madrid Design Festival
The Madrid Design Awards honor the world’s most outstanding designs, celebrating excellence through the festival’s prestigious accolades. These awards have showcased the visionary work of design luminaries such as Miguel Milá, Piet Hein Eek, Irma Boom, Gaetano Pesce, El Último Grito, Giorgetto Giugiaro, Neri&Hu, Bruno Monguzzi, Jaime Hayón, Selgascano, Patricia Urquiola, Peter Saville, Hella Jongerius, Curro Claret, and Stefano Boeri—distinguished winners of recent editions.

Fiesta Design celebrates design as a sensory experience, featuring installations, workshops, exhibitions, and brand and institutional presentations that merge seamlessly with creative expression.
Diseñoesfera unites business and design, providing an environment where new projects can flourish. This segment focuses on the professional sector, promoting activities that nurture the design ecosystem, stimulate economic and cultural growth, and create opportunities for industry professionals. It underscores design as a catalyst for business transformation, economic progress, and innovation.

Then, there’s the Festival OFF, where showrooms, design galleries, stores, studios, workshops, restaurants, and pop-up venues highlight their uniqueness and offer different events. There are exhibitions, installations, and product launches here, which can also be of interest to a more general audience, and they are free.
