On February 24, 2024, Qatar launches the first edition of the Design Doha Biennial, a showcase for the current design landscape in the MENA region.
Organized by Qatar Museums, Design Doha is a landmark biennial dedicated to creative innovation. It aims to promote design culture in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region, by creating a space of excellence for design in Qatar. Design Doha in Qatar is a platform for promoting creativity and design excellence; it also provides a space for creatives and institutions to present their projects and ideas. The Design Doha biennial aims to showcase the richness of Qatari design on the world stage.

The first edition of the Design Doha biennial takes place from February 24 to 28, 2024. However, several exhibitions will last beyond the end of February, some until August 5. The five-day main event includes exhibitions, the Design Forum, and the Design Doha Prize award ceremony. It focuses on the design scene in Qatar and its role in global trends.

Design Doha Forum
The Design Doha Forum (DDF) is an essential part of the Doha Design Biennial. The forum aims to be a rich and dynamic discussion platform, to explore the influence of design on all aspects of our lives. This year’s theme is ‘Urban Canvas: Empowering Communities through City Branding and Design Collaborations’. The theme guides a vibrant dialogue on city branding, design collaborations, and their transformative potential to enrich lives and strengthen community ties. By examining global design trends, traditional craftsmanship, the role of design in museums, and the spread of contemporary art and architecture in Arab countries, the forum aspires to broaden perspectives and inspire innovative approaches to urban development.
