Milan Design Week 2027 will run from 11 to 18 April, and 5Vie Art & Design is marking the occasion with a return to one of Milan’s most storied addresses. The district, known for bringing collectible design into the historic heart of the city, is bringing back Palazzo Litta as a venue and adding it to a programme built around research, new locations and international networking.

A district built on Milan’s historic streets

5Vie Art & Design started out in 2013 as a project to bring new energy to a handful of Milan’s oldest neighbourhoods. It has since grown into a year-round organisation, producing exhibitions, installations and cultural events and putting designers, companies and institutions from around the world in touch with one another. Ernesta Del Cogliano and Emanuele Tessarolo, who co-founded the district, still steer its strategy and day-to-day organisation.

Palazzo Litta joins the Milan Design Week 2027 programme

For Milan Design Week 2027, 5Vie brings Palazzo Litta back into the mix, three years after its 2024 edition there. The palazzo sits at Corso Magenta 24, and its old aristocratic courtyards and rooms will host installations and projects that play off the building’s own architecture.

Palazzo Litta joins three venues that already anchor the district’s programme:

  • Cavallerizze, Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci – Via Olona 4
  • Cesare Correnti 14 – Via Cesare Correnti 14
  • SIAM 1838 – Via Santa Marta 18

Between the four venues, 5Vie will spread international productions, exhibitions and site-specific projects across Milan’s historic centre.

From neighbourhood project to international network

5Vie Design District roots are local, but its reach has grown well past the district’s own streets. Over the years it has built relationships with designers, companies, institutions and galleries in Italy and abroad, turning the neighbourhood into a meeting point rather than just a backdrop.

“Over these years, we have grown together with the city, keeping our commitment to creating connections between talents, companies, galleries and institutions at the heart of what we do,” says Del Cogliano. “Today, however, our work goes beyond the local dimension: the district is the physical place from which we operate, while the organisation and network we have built allow us to work on a national and international scale.”

Milan Design Week 2027 remains the most visible moment in this journey, giving 5Vie a chance to connect with other parts of contemporary culture, innovation and business.

“2027 represents a new starting point,” adds Tessarolo. “The return to Palazzo Litta further expands the April programme, but above all strengthens a vision in which the local area becomes a meeting point for different experiences and cultures. Our goal is to continue building a network in which design serves as a language capable of bringing together creativity, businesses, institutions and international stakeholders.”

Looking ahead to Milan Design Week 2027

The 2027 edition rests on three things working together: the local dimension, the organisation behind it, and the network it has built. With Palazzo Litta back alongside its established venues, 5Vie is continuing to build on what started as a neighbourhood initiative and has turned, over more than a decade, into a network that spans Italy and reaches well beyond it.
