In an age defined by constant acceleration, the new premises of the Estonian Embassy in Copenhagen presents a design showcase that offers the invitaion to slow down. At 3daysofdesign festival 2026, the exhibition SLOWING focuses on Estonia’s deep connection to nature and tradition.

Responding directly to the festival theme, ‘Make this moment matter’, the exhibition positions Estonian design as a quiet counterbalance to the frantic pace of contemporary life. Through finely crafted objects, soft spatial elements, and delicate design choices, the presentation highlights a design culture entirely shaped by patience, clarity, and long-term value.

Rooted in a strong relationship with the natural environment and inherited manufacturing skills, Estonian design emerges here from a dialogue between hands, materials, and time. Each work on display expresses this approach; thus slowness is not a limitation, but a means that enables precision, sensitivity, and emotional durability.

Estonia Embassy in Copenhagen by Studio ARGUS

The exhibition unfolds within the architectural framework of the new Embassy of Estonia in Copenhagen, creating an ideal environment to foster concentration and intimacy. Instead of chasing an immediate visual impact, the works invite a prolonged engagement over time. These are objects and environments designed to be experienced and explored gradually through touch, use, and a progressive understanding.
Embassies often represent the first physical contact with a country, spaces where diplomacy unfolds and national identity is communicated in a silent yet powerful way. For this reason, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs actively collaborates with the country’s interior designers when renovating or establishing diplomatic missions.

The new Copenhagen premises were created by architect Grete Liis Nagelmann at studio ARGUS, led by architect Margit Argus, whose signature distinguishes multiple Estonian embassies around the world. The interior concept is deeply rooted in the beauty of Estonian nature and cultural heritage: each room uniquely interprets different elements and colors of the landscape to give guests an authentic atmosphere. Inspiring themselves from Nordic aesthetics, Studio ARGUS combines a contemporary vision with a strong sense of continuity and belonging to the place.

Together, the exhibition presents Estonian design as a lived experience rather than a mere aesthetic statement: it proposes generous spatial thinking, authentic materials, and a design that discreetly supports daily life. Technology finds its place, but discreetly; materials appear honest and tactile, while forms remain clean and calibrated. In this way, ‘SLOWING’ launches a simple proposal perfectly in line with the spirit of 3daysofdesign: to give value to the present moment not by accelerating it, but by slowing it down.

The exhibitors at SLOWING showcase

• AERIS

  An interior architecture studio blending Nordic clarity with technical precision. They are presenting the ‘Torte’ side tables, designed by founder Kätlin Ölluk and manufactured by Marmi Futerno. Made entirely from stone production waste, these experimental pieces celebrate ‘organized randomness’, creating entirely unique material combinations.

• EMBAKUMBA

  Led by interior architect Eero Jürgenson, this studio focuses on human-centered, highly functional minimalist forms. They are showcasing ‘VIPSI’, a stackable, zoomorphic chair inspired by Estonian pastures. Crafted from flexible plywood with horn-shaped solid oak backrests, it functions beautifully as both a handle and a coat hanger.

• House of Pärnamets

  A specialized woodworking studio dedicated to traditional craftsmanship and green woodworking techniques. They are highlighting their award-winning “SAHIN” seating series (BRUNO 2024 Environment Award). The collection utilizes unseasoned wood that tightens naturally as it dries, eliminating the need for artificial glues or screws.

• JALG

  Founded in 2016 by Argo Männiste and Veiko Kallas, this Red Dot-winning brand reinterprets technology within modern spaces. Their handcrafted, minimalist freestanding TV stands combine mid-century aesthetics with sleek wood and steel elements, giving digital screens a calm, dignified architectural presence in the room.

• Loreida Hein x RaSun

  A collaboration showcasing practical upholstery and spatial retreat. They are presenting ‘SaLa’,  a sculptural acoustic armchair designed by artist and interior architect Loreida Hein and produced by RaSun. It offers visual and acoustic privacy, serving as a personal micro-environment within busy public or office landscapes.

• Maarit Pöör

  A multidisciplinary designer and Aalto University alumna who translates Nordic and Estonian architectural geometries into textiles. In collaboration with the Finnish weaving mill Annala, she has created a wool blanket collection that deconstructs historical wooden house facade elements into soft, warm, and highly usable everyday objects.

• SEOS

  Led by designer Tõnis Vellama, this studio has specialized in custom, handmade lighting solutions for three decades. Embracing the circular economy, SEOS rejects mass-production speeds to focus on flexible, branching luminaires like ‘Lumimari’ and ‘Bloss’, designed to evolve with an interior rather than be replaced.

• Silen

  A premium manufacturer of workspace acoustic pods. Drawing inspiration from the deep silence of Estonian forests, they are introducing ‘Space Gen 2’, a new generation of office pods developed with award-winning industrial designers to set industry-leading standards in bidirection isolation, ventilation, and ergonomic focus.

• Slept

  A brand dedicated to sustainable luxury, crafting 100% handmade beds and mattresses in Estonia using Öko-Tex certified European components. For the festival, they are unveiling a contemporary sofa bed created in collaboration with interior architect Kätlin Ölluk (AERIS), combining clean lines with rich, tactile materials.
